Hi all -

It's time for DH and I to buy real, "adult" furniture (we currently have a futon - nice wood frame, inner-spring mattress, but a futon, none-the-less). A friend suggested leather (a distressed leather) because it doesn't hold "dog smell." We have two boxers who are allowed on the couch - anyone have dogs and a leather couch? How does it work for you? I'd like not to drop a ton of money only to have the dogs destroy it! (I don't mind a distressed look - I'm most concerned about their nails puncturing the leather....)

We've had our leather for 2 years now and The dog hasn't so much as left a scratch on it. It's not distressed leather, either. The guy at the furniture store said it's actually more durable than fabric. I dunno. I just liked the fact that it's easier to clean than fabric.

Going on 4 years with two 60+ lb dogs that sit on the leather couch. Easy to clean and while there are a few little scratches here and there, I wouldn't have be happy with fabric at all. Our old fabric couch was impossible to vacuum dog hairs out of! Never had a problem with them puncturing the leather.

We have had dogs and leather that have coexisted for years. The only problem that we have is that it is a fight to see who gets there first, the humans or the dogs.:lmao: :lmao:

I have 2 dogs and have had leather furniture for 4+ years now. Love it. I still have to vacuum the hair that sneaks down between the cushions:headache: , but they have left no scratches, no stains, no marks at all!

Excellent! Leather, it is, for us! Thanks, everyone. :goodvibes
