Least crowded week to go in October? (Disneyworld)

We are planning our annual trip to Disneyworld and I am hoping to avoid crowds in October. We went two years ago the week of Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving. It was VERY crowded :crowded: . I'm wondering if the first week in October or the week before Halloween would be a better choice? We didn't expect that Columbus Day or Canadian Thanksgiving would cause such crowds, so maybe there was something else going on that week? Can anyone give me the scoop on the best time to go in October? I'd appreciate it :) !

I'd choose first week of October.

Week before Halloween can be "busier" but not wacked-out crowded. There's the golf classic that week. And I know in MN, that's MEA weekend typically...we usually have W-Th-F off that week for conferences. While it isn't like Jersey week, I imagine many people choose to hit WDW at that time. But again, I wouldn't rule it out.

Just if you are asking which week is slower, I'd say the first week of October is a slightly better choice than the week before Halloween.

I have been the week after Columbus day and it was not really crowded. I am going this year Columbus Day week because my children are older and they will have two days off from school in that week.
I know know 5 families that are going that week! (Three of them are my cousins). It seems that it will be crowded that week, but with people I know! :teeth:

Here in WI there is a state-wide teacher's convention also the week before Halloween. No school Wed.-Fri. Oct. 26-28, which does cause some to take that extra Monday and Tuesday off too and head to WDW. :cool1:

That's what we've done the last 2 years in October. The crowds were moderate, but not too bad. The weather though has been the best we've ever seen at WDW. Last year, we didn't have one drop of rain the entire week we were there (Halloween week).

My husband says it was the best trip we ever took - mostly because of crowds and weather PLUS we just did some new, fun things. Disney is also a really fun place to be on Halloween too. :maleficen

I keep saying, my kids are spoiled. They've trick-or-treated in WDW the last 2 years. Our neighborhood will just pale in comparison this year. :guilty:
