least busy time for DVC

I realize the busy times (large crowds) for the parks are not necessary busy times (full rooms) for DVC. Is there a thread somewhere discussing when DVC is least likely (or most likely) to have available rooms?

DVC is designed to run year round at 95% occupancy or some such high number - with the unreserved rooms often scheduled for maintenance. So by the time you check in, all seasons are busy - with smaller chances of getting a short term room (better at the 'less busy' times). The question is really, how fast do they book - some times book completely even before the seven month window opens, other times it takes until two or three months out before availability gets really spotty.

September remains a good bet for low crowds both for DVC and not. Spring is pretty good, except over Easter. Feburary seems to not be terribly popular. Surprisingly, Summer isn't bad and it wouldn't surprise me to find out if you called today you could get nearly anything you were looking for for June with a little flexibility. (I would be surprised if OKW had a Grand Villa for five consecutive nights, or a Boardwalk Standard View were available for five consecutive nights - but not shocked even by that).

BCV usually gets booked up fast for summer, too, since everyone wants to go to SAB.

Late Aug and early Sept might also be good times to go.

If there is a logical time I think it would be the last half of May when most kids (middle & high schoolers) can't take off from school because of studying for and taking final exams.

January is less crowded as well, right after the holidays and right before the February rush.

We have always had good luck in May at OKW. Parks were not to crowded. Remember to avoid Memorial Day weekend things get very crowded then.

We went in 2005 the week before Memorial Day weekend. It was great. Hardly any lines, but it was hot. In 2007 we went Memorial Day weekend. It wasn't too bad in the mornings, but by 9pm, MK was packed! Oh...and it was love bug season...YUCK!!

We also went this past September mid-month, weather was nice but Disney was offering the free dining and the parks were pretty busy. Still had a great time though!

Love bugs are the only down side but we didn't fine them too bad last year and we were there the week after you.


Our best luck has been mid may (as someone else stated) SAB wasn't even crowded the first day of Memorial Day weekend. Also last year we went the first week in Sept and almost had the BWV to ourselves (or so it seemed) 2 afternoons we were the only family in the pool.
