Leapster recharger ?

I bought my DD4 regular Leapster for Christmas and was looking for the charger. My local TRU ans Target only have the recharger for the L-Max. Does anyone know if you can use this with the regular leapster?

I just bought the last one at my local Best Buy. It was 24.99 which is cheaper than at TRU. I did see it at TRU online if you can't find it in the stores I think it was 29.99.

I was told by the people at Wal Mart that the cartridges and chargers for Leapster and Leapster Max were interchangeable.

I looked this up on the leapfrog website and this is what I found:

So it doesn't look like they're interchangeable. I was looking to order one two days ago and found them online at both Target and Walmart for around $24.99 (plus shipping). I ended up getting one somewhere else. Also, Walmart had the leapster case clearanced for $10 online.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but does anyone know where or if you can buy extra rechargeable battery packs for the leapster, the ones that come with the recharging kit? I bought two of my sons leapsters, but I was hoping I would only have to buy one kit.

According to their site you can use the L-max cartridges with the regular ones, they just don't do as much since you can't hook the old ones up to the tv. I bought two on TRU's buy one get one free sale so I hope they work!

There are two different types of the REGULAR Leapster systems. There is also the L-Max.

The L-Max is more rectangluar in shape.

One of the regular Leapster systems is also rectangular in shape.

The other regular Leapster system is more of an oval/triangular shape.

The L-Max charger works with the L-Max and the rectangular type of regular Leapster.

However, if you have the oval/triangular type of regular Leapster you have to look for that type of charger...the base it sits in is triangular

The kind of recharger you have to get will depend on what type of regular Leapster you bought. I found this out by accident, b/c we only have the regular Leapsters....unfortunately the one DD just recieved for Christmas is the rectangular (L-Max style) one. You can't use the regular Leapster chargers for it....you have to use an L-Max charger for it. We wound up buying a new charger.

Thanks Jennifer. That cleared everything up for me. Our leapster is triangular so I guess I need the regular leapser recharger. Off to look on Ebay!
