I bought DD(2) a Leapster for Christmas or her birthday on Amazon a couple days ago... they had a good price on it plus I had some Amazon GC's from swagbucks so I ended up getting it for about $20.

Then I found a case for it on clearance at Target. :cool1:

So now I'm on the hunt for games. What's a good price for the games? It seems like they run $24-$29 normally. I saw a couple on sale at Target for $19, but is that a good deal for them? Just trying to figure out the price point that'll make me say, "Yes! That's a good deal!"

Keep checking, toysrus does a lot of buy 2 get 1 free

I usually find some on clearance. For actual Christmas gifts, I would pick up 1.. maybe 2. then check craigslist after Christmas. People will have upgraded etc and may be selling old games. I sold all of DD's for $5 each. It worked out good for us to just have 1 or 2 new games at a time... over 2 years she probably accumulated about 15.

TRU has a coupon in their back to school mailer for $5 off a game. Pair that with a game that is on clearance and you can get one for about $8! :cool1:

I would check goodwill too. We got DS a Leapster Explorer brand new in the box from goodwill for $12 and the Toy Story game to go with it for $5. :thumbsup2

That was pretty much my plan. One or two brand new for gifting, a couple in her Christmas/birthday list for family & then pick up anything else at consignment/craigslist. I do this with our Disney movies... for the holidays, I always do brand new (though sometimes they've been BN in package from ebay) and then pick-up used ones to build our collection whenever I see them for a good price.

I'll check at Toys R Us -- thanks for the info, everyone! I thought maybe Target would have some in their clearance stuff but no such luck.

Check out your library! Ours carries them.

I also see them frequently at mom2mom sales for $3-$5.

Around Christmas, leapfrog.com typically has a sale and clearance and you can usually pick up games for about $7.50.

Craigslist! I just got 6 games for $30! They are in the original package and are going under the tree! Now to remember where I stick the until then!

for the past few Black fridays target has them for $15. I think last fall Toys R Us had their fri/sat sales and I picked them up there for $12-15.

hope this helps

I got quite a few on amazon.com last Christmas for $9.99
