leapfrog is having a sale and I need to get a couple of games and any other suggested accessories. So far I bought the actual leap pads and the kit that has the gel case, headphones, and a/c adaptor.
Need games for DS almost 5, and DS3. Suggestions? Also, any other accessories I need? Will any rechargeable batteries work, or do I need to buy the $40 set from leapfrog?

BTW- code valid thru today... BFISBACK

TIA!

I'd also like to know what everyone suggests.

DD4 is getting a LeapPad2 for Christmas from her grandparents and I have NO idea what it's all about! Should I plan on buying games for it - doesn't it include some activities?

Thanks for the code...going to check it out now.

we have the LeapPad and have just upgraded to the LeapPad2. We bought rechargable batteries. Much cheaper and I have been happy with my decision. I did a lot of research on this last year and decided not to go with the adapter because DD was not likely to be willing to sit still near an electrical outlet to play. She is more of an on the go type of kid

DD is 3 and we have enjoyed the Mr Pencil game, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and the Disney books that we have downloaded. She also likes some of the videos that we have picked up along the way and the apps included with the system. We bought a handful more to put under our Christmas tree. I always check Amazon before purchasing games- I find the reviews there to be most accurate as far as age ranges.

Keep an eye on the toy stores and amazon. I have never paid full price for any games or apps. Toys R Us even had a BOGO deal a few weeks back on games. Amazon sells $20 app cards for as low as $13.50 sometimes. The apps are not cheap, definitely had sticker shock at first because I was expecting costs similiar to itunes or kindle apps but they really are comparitive to if you bought a game in the store for the system and I like not needing to worry about the cartridges.

Great, thanks!
I have been eyeballing the Jake and Neverland Pirates game, so I am glad you recommend it!
So plain ole rechargeable duracells will work fine?

also there is a code floating around out there to get a free app if you download before 12/17. It is LeapPad's attempt to try to keep their site from overloading on Christmas with everyone setting up their systems. I definitely find it worth the time to get the free app and set the system up and tape the box back together so it looks like it wasn't opened :upsidedow

Yes- Duracell is exactly what we use. I did buy the second set so I can always have a spare ready to go. It was still significantly cheaper.

awesome! thanks to you both!:goodvibes

I just want to add, DD3 is getting the Leap Pad 2 for Christmas and yesterday I opened it to setup prior to wrapping. It took me a good 45 minutes to get everything download and an update it needed. Glad I did that because she is going to want to play it Christmas morning.
