For those of you lucky enough to be able to get this soup to go...

What time of day seems to be the best shot at getting it?:confused3

Thanks,
Ron

We did the Canada show and as we were letting out saw a family all walking out of LC with to go soup bowls. That was around lunchtime.

I tried mid afternoon (thought that would be a slow time) in early December.
I was told "not during candlelight processional, just too busy".

We couldn't get an ADR during our vacation (early Dec.). So we stopped by around noon on a weekday and asked for two soups and an order of pretzel bread to go. No problem.

I tried in Sept 08,09,Dec 09 and 10 have had NO luck any time I have asked.I have tried as they are opening for lunch, at the beginning of dinner, later in the afternoon. The response has always been the same " we are not equipped for take out orders", i am not a fan of the place except for the soup and breadsticks and won't waste an adr here.....SO

It doesn't hurt to ask, but the reality of it is it doesn't happen all that often

I have read reports from several people on this boards who reported that they were successfully able to order cheddar cheese soup and breadsticks to-go from Le Cellier. It seems it depends on how busy the restaurant is when you try and if the Cast Member is in a good mood at the time.

Yeah, but Jared based on ADRs the restaurant is ALWAYS busy. :confused3
You'd think Disney would figure out that they could sell this stuff at a window somewhere in the Canada pavilion and make a fortune with it. I don't think it would hurt the biz at LC because people like the meat and other dishes there.
They could even charge an extra dollar or two to just order soup and people would do it:)

I've always wondered about take-out soup. I LOVE it but nobody else in my family does. I almost tried 3 weeks ago but dh didn't think it would fly. Maybe I'll give it a try when we're back at Epcot.:confused3

:thumbsup2 Will be there on a Sunday in mid May. Hopefully it will be slow enough that I can get the same results. I love the stuff.

Well my fingers are crossed. We ate there once and after all was said and done I'd have been happy with just the soup and bread.

Hopefully I'll get a nice CM who might appreciate an easy tip.;)
If you are there during food and wine, the soup can be bought from the canada stand.
I've been there during Food and Wine.:goodvibes That's how we discovered the stuff. Unfortunately it will be May this time.

I've told my wife this so many times. They are really missing the boat on this one! :confused3

Well I'm going to try. Maybe I'll get lucky.:cool2:

Totally depends on who you ask and how busy they are when you ask.

Maybe the reason they don't have the soup available for take out is they just don't feel there is enough demand for thick hot soup in the blazing Florida sunshine. Of course there are plenty of chilly days in the winter time when the cheese soup is just the ticket. :confused3

Maybe if more of us go up and ask Disney will see that not only is there a demand for it, but they could make a fortune.
I personally think that they need a quick serve in the Canada area. Just a little place where they could sell things like the soup, poutine, and some other yummy favs!

If enough people go up and ask for it the CM at the podium will get annoyed and most likely not do it.
I know alot of people who work at Le Cellier, in fact I start at the Canada Pavillion in December. They aren't suppose to do to go dishes but sometimes the CMs are really nice about it. But now that Le cellier is signature I know they won't at night. So if you want to attempt Ron I suggest between 11am and 2pm during lunch. Le cellier is signature at dinner, you aren't going to go up to Victoria and Alberts and ask for escargot to go right? :)

There could be many reasons why they don't want to do to go orders.

Off the top of my head.

Anywhere from ...

To add a to go window its more than just a window, there maybe health issues, think candy lady.

to ...

The executive chef and or restaurant management thinks adding "to go" makes them like a McD's and is beneath them.

Right now though the desk person would have to track down a server, have the server: enter the order, pick up the order and cashier the order. So sometimes its more of the server doing a favor for the desk than for you, also you have to think that the server does not get a tip.

Being from Tampa I'm used to the blazing heat. Most of those Food and Wine dates are during blazing hot days. Still they can't seem to keep up with the demand for the soup samples. So I think there is a market for it.:)

Make it at home. You can get the actual receipe at AllEars. My husband make sit all the time and I swear his version is so much better than Le Cellier. he adds extra bacon into it (yum).
