I remember the last time I went I was able to get the Mushroom Filet, but the Cheddar Cheese soup I had to pay OOP. I foget how this works, is anyone familiar enough to explain what I can get?

I would really like an appetizer... am I allowed one? Are there certain ones I can get and ones I can't? How does that work? I'm sure I'll be able to get a dessert, but I can't find the dessert menu... does someone have a link?

Ideally I'd like to choose an app, entree, and dessert of my choosing... I'm hoping since it cost 2 TS credits now I'll be able to pick whatever I want.

Has anyone tried the steak tartar? I've never had and want to try.

Apps are only included in the deluxe dining plan....not the regular one.

You would have to pay OOP for an app.

Some restaurants have a price fixe menu that included an app, entree and dessert, but there are no substitutions...you must pick from what's on the list. (there was a thread recently about where to find those menus)

Also, if you book the Fantasmic Pkg at Mama Melrose...it is 1TS credit and you will get an app, entree and dessert.

Hope that helps.

First of all it is only 2 TS at dinner, during lunch it is still 1 credit. As for your DDP question, on the basic dinning plan you are entitled to an entree, a dessert, and one non-alcoholic beverage per person. If you are wanting an appetizer then you will have to pay OOP for that. We always get the DxDP so we are entitled to an appetizer, entree, dessert, and 1 non-alcoholic beverage per person. Here is a link for the lunch, dinner, and dessert menus from waltdisneyworld.com.

Another good website to checkout the different menus all around WDW is allears.net. Hope this helps.

Ugh... why oh why did they have to change it to 2 credits?!?!?

I might try to switch it to lunch. Is there a difference in the lunch filet and the dinner filet? The price sure is different!

The lunch filet is smaller than the one at dinner. I think the server said it's 5 oz at lunch and 8 oz at dinner. Also, when I had both in October, the dinner risotto had larger and more pieces of mushrooms. That being said, both filets were excellent.

There is a fixed price menu at lunch that would include the appetizer on the regular dining plan. However, the filet is not one of the entree choices. So if you're getting the filet you need to pay for the soup. Unless someone else at your table is willing to get the fixed price and give you the soup.

The lunch filet is a few ounces smaller than the dinner filet.

On the regular dining plan, outside use of the fixed price menu for which no substitutions are allowed, or a special meal package like Fantasmic or Candlelight Processional, you are not entitled to an appetizer, not even at 2 credit restaurants. You'd need the deluxe plan for that.

The lunch filet is 5 oz. vs 8 oz at the dinner. The dinner filet is Canadian beef while the lunch filet is someplace else beef (I can't remember - New Zealand?). We couldn't tell the difference; both were full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Oh, and the dinner risotto had more mushrooms than at lunch.

If you do go for dinner, the bone in rib eye was even better than the filet. I had it with the risotto rather than the potatoes. :)

I know the answer to this question from experience -

Lunch - 5 oz USDA Beef. Risotto - cheaper mushrooms and pre-made mushroom stock

Dinner - 8oz Canadian Beef, from Alberta. Risotto - Forrest mushrooms, house made stock.

There is no difference in the beef at all, it's simply a money grab. It's easy for the restaurant to add an additional few dollars to give you the 'Canadian' twist. The highest graded cut on meat is at dinner. The Prime New York Strip. Maybe the only one worthy of the cost.

Dining plan

Basic - Entree, NA drink and dessert. Unless there is a chef menu, which Le Cellier has at Lunch. You can get three courses, and your NA drink. Remember with the drink, shakes and smooties are included, and make a more interesting option than a soda. Cellier offers Rasberry, Mango, Green Apple and Shakes.

Deluxe plan- App, Entree, Dessert, NA beverage.

Happy Eating!

This demonstrates why signature restaurants are almost never a good deal on the regular dining plan.
You are expending double the credits -- In return, beverages are still the same price. Entrees are usually $10-$20 more than 1-credit restaurants, and desserts may be $3-$4 more expensive.
So for double the credits, you are only getting an additional $13-24 in value, in most cases. That's pretty much like using a TS credit for a CS meal.
