Le Cellier vs Yachtsman

Depends on what you are looking for. We love them both for different reasons.

We really enjoyed our meal at both with Yachtsman coming out higher on the overall quality of the food. But, we like Yachtsman more for a "date night" for DH and I, whereas, we like to take our kids to Le Cellier.

Yachtsman has a more refined dining area IMHO and is quieter. The lobster bisque is to die for!!! (like "lick the bowl clean" to die for). :p

I don't think you can go wrong either way, but it really all depends on the makeup of your party, and what you are looking for in your experience. :goodvibes

We are just like you in that we have a DD 7 & 9!!

We are just wanting good food/steak. Our girls are pretty laid back so I'm not worried about their behavior in a "high end" restaurant.

Oh nice! :goodvibes I feel like the kids menu is great at Le Cellier. And they offer those cute moosehead shaped ice cream sundae's which my girls love!

Food and service wise, YSH is by far the better restaurant. Some folks like the "cozy" dark feel of LC.

Saw something not too long ago about LC starting to offer lighted menus! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

For food quality though, YS all the way.

I agree it depends on what you're looking for and what metrics you are using.

Food: For me, I'd either order the ribeye or filet mignon at either restaurant. Both venues do an excellent job cooking the steak to order. So it comes down to the appetizers, side dishes, and desserts. In terms of the appetizers, I really like the cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread sticks at LC. I had the wedge salad at YC and while pretty to look at, eating a quarter head of lettuce (still whole, with rib attached) was kind of pain. In terms of the side dishes, I had the risotto at Le Cellier, which is one of my favorites. The bone marrow that came with the ribeye was awful. If I ever go back, I'm definitely asking to substitute something else for it. Neither place had outstanding desserts, but for kids, I give LC the edge because of the chocolate mousse moose.

Atmosphere: LC is very dark and the tables are very close together. As mentioned by a PP, they use light up menus now because it was hard to read the menu otherwise. You can very easily hear the conversation at the table next to you. Any electronic screens are very distracting to fellow diners because of the low lighting at LC. Yachtsman is more brightly lit and the tables are further apart. The decor is a mishmash of cowboys and nautical themes.

Service: At LC, the service has been hit or miss. I've had some great servers and some not so great servers. YSH servers tend to be more on the "Signature" dining experience level - they tend to be attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.

Overall, for me, I liked the food at LC better (so this is where I would go). The service at YSH is better. The atmosphere is a toss up.

It's a toss up for me. I have dined at both several times and I wouldn't say I've had a great experience at either.

Le Cellier is more fun but the food is so salty here (am I the only one who thinks this since I haven't seen it mentioned?). The close tables don't bother me when I'm with a group that is fun/festive but it does bother me when I'm with a small group--there's definitely no way to have a quiet meal here.

YSH has always been a good atmosphere and the service has always been ok but I haven't had a lot of luck with the steaks. I've been very disappointed with the New York and the Ribeye cuts. After two bad New York dinners and one bad Ribeye dinner, I tried the filet and it was good so that's what I've had a few times now. But I can get a filet anywhere at WDW so what's the point of going to a steakhouse?

For us, it comes down to this. Yachtsman is a nice steakhouse setting with great food, both of which we can get ( or better ) around home in SF bay area. Le Cellier has equally ( or better ) food in a unique and wonderful setting that oozes Disney atmosphere in World Showcase.

We fly a long way, and not very often, to experience the all the magic that Disney offers, so experience taught us to go with what makes our trip the best possible. We've never been disappointed with our must-do of Le Cellier, not even once.

Just my opinion, but wherever you go, sure hope you have a great meal!
:goodvibes

If the two, Yachtsman. Best steak however is at Shula's in my opinion.

Never been to Yachtsman but I have been to LeCellier and it wasn't that great. It was loud and people were cramped in. You literally could hear the conversations from the tables around you and the food was just ok.

If you are happy with subpar, over priced food and poor service where you are packed into the dining area then go with LeCellier.

Otherwise try anyplace else!

Food and service, hands down YS. Atmosphere, I personally liked LC better. People complain that LC is dark and cluttered, but too me, it's cozy. Food there was drowned in salt and the service was horrible.

+1. Couldn't have said it better. LC is the most over hyped restaurant on the planet.

Better food and service at Shula's, but if you prefer a Disney restaurant then go with Yachtsman. The "atmosphere" at Le Cellier consists of being crammed into a small table right next to another party crammed into a small table. Yachtsman will be more relaxing with better service and food. If you are using the dining plan I wouldn't recommend either for two table service credits.

If red meat is want you gotta have:
1. Shula's
2. Yachtsman Steakhouse
3. Le Cellier

We haven't done Le Cellier in around 10 years. We enjoyed the food, service was great (our waiter was a hoot!) but the cramped, close together tables just wasn't our thing. It's a shame cause we did have a good time. Also, we are cocktail drinkers and at the time (don't know if it's since changed) Le Cellier served only beer and wine.

We have ADRs for both Shula's & Yachtsman for our June, November and December trips.
