Hi there!!!

I just joined Disboards today after being an avid reader of this web site for the past few weeks.. I'm heading to Disney world in July with my boyfriend and today marks 90 day's until we leave.

Needless to say, I was up at six am and on the phone making my adr's by 7:01am. :O) I tried to book a reservation for Le Cellier but I had no luck the night that I wanted to eat there was filled. So instead I opted to substitute it with Chefs de France.

Now, to my question: Has anyone ever eaten at both of these restaurants and if so could you give me some pros and cons. Did I make the right choice?

Thanks for all of your feed back ahead of time. Everyone is so knowledgeable on this site. I've learned so much from you all already...

well I will start with saying that I will not be returning to Chefs de France anytime soon. Dinner is crowded, noisy and chaotic. With the arrival of the Disney Dining Plan the place is extremely busy. We liked this restaurant previously. I have had to endure nasty, rude children at adjacent tables. I have been kicked by an 8 year old wallowing on the bench seat beside me. In spite of having ADR's it is not unusual to wait 30-60mins for a table. I am sure this does not improve the disposition of hungry children.

The last several times we've been the waiters have been brusque, and harried (probably because they are overworked and dealing with impatient people).

On our last trip, the food was just ok, but we waited a long time between appetizer & entree. And the entree was cold when it arrived.

If I ever return here it will be for an early lunch or a VERY LATE dinner.

THis is one restaurant that I feel the DDP ruined.

Well, we thought the food and overall experience were really good in Chefs, but then we almost always go in November when crowds are lighter. We do prefer Le Cellier, though, because of the food selections and the ambience. You should try to call back at least once a week, if you have the time. You can often score a someone else's cancellation, especially if you try at the 45 day mark, when many people change their plans before they pay the balance in full of their trip. That has worked for lots of people, from what I've read here.

We've been to both, Chefs most recent in Nov. It was our favorite meal and we'll be back in Aug. LOVED the adult mac and cheese, desserts were excellent. We had great service as well. I would defintely say give it a try.

We love them both. I have a special request for Le Cellier in Sept from my mama but Chefs will definatly be a close second. Have you tried Tuttu Italia? It is my personal favorite on property. they seem really aware of seperating the families and couples and I have had more than 1 romantic meal there on our aniversary (without kids!)
Either way I always think that the trip is what you make of it.
Have fun
Heidi

We love Chefs. My kids all want to go back because they liked the food. And our server was very good in a wonderful French way (I love France and studied there, so I'm partial I admit).

The last time we ate at Le Cellier, it was cafeteria style (am I remembering the right place?) back in about 1992, so I can't help you there.

Le Cellier has blessedly changed from the old cafeteria setup.

We like them both, a lot. But ... I'm gonna give a slight nod to Chefs, just because of the wider variety on the menu and that whole French vibe. The steak I had a couple of visits ago at Chefs was memorable. I thing the potential for a really good meal exists at either place. You'll find that both places have their lovers and detractors.

my family prefers le celliar to chefs. like the previous poster said we had to wait almost an hour to get our table. Then the meal took about 2 hours! this just took a great chunk out of our day and we didn't think the food was good enough to wait that long. this was the only restaurant my family said we are not returning to.:sad2:

at le celliar the food was excellant and we had the best service there than anywhere else on that trip and that was my family's top choice to return to this trip.

i think you should definatly try to call back and get a reservation because i believe le celliar is a must:thumbsup2

Let me ask you guys a question.
I've booked both of these for our trip coming up in a couple of weeks.
They are a couple of days apart though...

Are the foods and flavors different enough that we will enjoy doing both of these in one trip?
Or should I change one to another wonderful EPCOT TS dinner?
There are lots of TS meals we've never tried at EPCOT....

Thank you all for your input!

I think I am going to try to get a rezzie for le cellier.. Although, I am quite sure that Chefs de france will be okay.. I only have two in my party. (my boyfriend and I.) So we are on a schedule but nothing tooo tight where we will feel bad if dinner takes too long. We are just trying to make the best of what we have... Knowingly that not everything is going to be 100% perfect.

I love Chefs de France for lunch myself. And enjoy the place overall. Le Cellier has good food but we have had horrible service twice in a row now
