Le Cellier, the Whipping Boy (shortsheeted/shortsighted?) of the Dis Dining Boards?

What I see are some people saying Le Cellier is the bee's knees, some say it's not worth the hype, and some don't like it. The OP loves it and I guess he wants to ask why some people don't. Everybody's got an opinion and it's not all the same which is what usually comes out on a discussion boards. I am pretty sure the DIS doesn't have a guideline against "negative" opinions. So please don't turn the thread into an argument here about WHY the OP wanted to have a discussion or start sniping on each other or fight about why more people love Le Cellier than hate it.

I didn't see the Animal Kingdom thread but I don't see venom or hatred for Le Cellier, much less gathered in one spot. I guess I can't see "I think Le Cellier is overrated" or "I had a bad experience there" as hatred.

Precisely. Because any time a positive spin was put to AK, people would say the most arrogant things. Ridiculous! And I must have spotted a similar thing with Le Cellier or else I wouldn't have started the thread.

Again, there's nothing wrong with differing opinions. But Noel Cowardesque quips without backbone just rub me the wrong way. Really and truly.

See, you've just used the word "arrogant" to describe other persons' expressions of a bad opinion regarding something you happen to like. That leads to fighting and namecalling which IS against the DIS guidelines and will get the thread closed. I'm not sure how anyone's opinions of Le Cellier that I've seen here can be described as "arrogant." Maybe you don't like some posting styles but this IS a message board and that is not against guidelines.

To those posting on this thread, I sense the sniping about to start and that will get the thread closed.

I started two threads. Just two. Not every thread I've posted on the Dis follows a similar thesis. There was one, yes, ONE, about the Animal Kingdom, and one about Le Cellier. I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm trying to get all of the venom for either one into ONE thread. And I'm naturally curious as to why there is such venom on either side of the fence. I don't exclude myself, otherwise, why would I post it? But it's nice to read details instead of caustic remarks peppered all over the place. You may not recognize it, but I do, because I'm bonkers when it comes to details.

And as to your second point, most of my best friends are positive topics! I love positive topics. I love them a la carte! I love them as part of a complete menu. My question to you is, if every post I'm starting has to do with a scapegoat of the boards, why on Earth are you opening them?

I do recognize that there is negativity...I choose not to highlight it as you seem to thrive on. You can pretend all you want that "you're into the positive and the details " but you thrive on the negative.

For me it's just average. When so many people on this board talked it up like it was the greatest thing since sliced cheese the expectations were already high.

It doesn't deliver, especially not for the price.

If I go to a steakhouse, I don't want the steak covered in mushrooms, sauce, or onions. I can get that at Ryan's or Sizzler and don't equate those places with 'best steak I ever ate'.

But why? No one was being rude. Some people post with off colored jokes, some with inspirational references, heck I've read football analogies in some reviews. Some jokes fall flat, some are truly witty (hey I got a few chuckles with the pope reference). I'm not understanding the problem.
As long as some one is not rude and insulting than their flair for expressing their opinion is no better or worse than anyone elses.

I went back over the last few pages and still don't see any arrogance. No one said anyone's review was wrong, no one claimed to be better than anyone else.

Hey, I'll admit, I maybe misreading some of it but pretty much I see the normal pros and cons.

Then just score my intention behind this thread as an incomplete forward pass.

Respondents always choose to submit there answers to a review; otherwise it would be pretty hard to get any real data.
Precisely. Which is why counting such feedback has no merit. Just read such reviews for content. Normalized surveys are used for counting.

Unless you can show there was bias in the way these reviews were collected, your point isn't valid.
With respect, you seem to have no idea what you're talking about, vis a vis the word "valid". These words - "normalized" "bias" and "valid" have real meanings. Without the foundation of evidence of proper process, your assertion has no merit. And keep in mind that the sources you refer to never presented the information you're referring to in the manner you're referring to them.

You have no idea what I do for a living but thanks for your opinion on what I know and what I don't. Can you provide any real evidence, without using your thesaurus, that these reviews are not valid.

I'm thinking the argument about the validity of the Unofficial Guide (which does contain the word Unofficial in the title) is now off topic.

I'm having a tough time seeing LeCellier as a "whipping boy." It is clearly one of the most popular restaurants in WDW. Just try to get an ADR there less than 6 months out.

I don't think it's a "whipping boy" either. It's probably the most popular restaurant in Epcot. Personally I don't hate it but don't understand why it's so popular. But as others have said to each his own.

There are a lot of things that WDW that are indeed popular without necessarily being especially good. For example, the fountain at DTD is popular with kids far in excess of its excellence as a WDW attraction, I'm sure most folks would agree. And many people bemoan the threats of closure to, and the inconsistent operating hours of Carousel of Progress; those being a reflection of how unpopular the attraction is, but doubtful that its lack of popularity is any real indicator of its excellence as an attraction.
