I just got back from a quick trip and have to say that Le Cellier is still my favorite WDW restaurant of all times... :)
DBF and I was lucky to snatch a last minute ADR on friday night.
We got there and had a glimpse of Chewbacca's actor coming out of the restaurant (I wish I remember his name).
Anyways, that was tangent...

I went there specifically for the wild mushroom risotto, other than that I haven't decided what else to get.
Since DBF is not a meat eater (other than hamburgers), he opted for the salmon dish.
And as much as I'd love to get a steak, there's no way I would've been able to finish it.
So I decided to be good to myself and order the asian shrimp appetizer.
I have to say that the meal was the best I've had in the whole trip.
The shrimp appetizer with the wasabi "coleslaw" was perfect and the risotto was as good as I remembered.
DBF's salmon was awesome. I have to say it's even better than the Artist Point Salmon.

And the appetizer + risotto side was more than enough portion for me.
DBF not a big eater is also very happy with the Salmon size.
We thought about getting a dessert before we had gotten our meal but at the end of the meal we chickened out... :teeth:

We both discussed DDP credits and can't imagine ever using 2 credits for this meal.
I think we both would have to be wheeled out of the restaurants if we used 2 credits.

If we had used credit, we would be using 1 credit and pay OOP for the side risotto.
Still we would have a dessert to fit in our belly somehow... LOL!!!
Man... I think disney is trying to fatten us up.... :teeth:

That sounds soooo good, just what we would have ordered. Everyone says such good things about this place I want to try it next time. Is this a place I could take my kids (6&8) or would they be out of place... they like to eat non-kid food.

I will be going to WDW Sept 21 - 29, I have made almost all of my dining arrangements. Because of what I have read here, I really wanted to go to Le Cellier. However, they have no openings at this time for the days I will be there. :sad2:

This is one of the restaurants we are VERY excited about trying. I am glad to here you had a great meal.

By the way, the actor who played Chewbacha (sp?) is named Peter Mayhew. He is a British actor who now lives in Texas. We have known he & his wife for many years. They are always great fun. If you get a change to get an autograph from him notice the chewbacha ring he wears. It is very unique. It is also huge!

Your kids would be fine.
I've seen families in there. Big and small...
I'd say go for it.
Hey, it's your vacation... :)

bamabear,
Keep trying... even on your last day, you never know who's cancelling their ressie.
Really... don't give up... :)

pugcrazy,
YEAH!! Peter Mayhew... man... losing brain cells here...
He's sooooo tall... and his autograph line was always long, so I never even tried.
I should try it if we get to see him some other year...

It makes sense that an actor famed for portraying Chewbacca the Wookiee, who often thought with his stomach, would eat at one of the best restaurants at WDW.

Glad you guys had a good time.

We ate there last Tuesday for our dinner, our first time there. We really enjoyed it.

I'm glad you could get in at the last minute.
While we were waiting to be seated, the CM at the outside podium was turning people away every 5 minutes or so. I heard him tell one couple that they were booked thru early June.

Sounds like you had a great meal - I'm looking forward to our ressies in 3 days. We've been a couple of times before and it's usually the highlight of our trip.

Someone posted here once and said the reason the Le Cellier is so popular is because people are not adventurous enough to try anything other than steak. I disagree. I love all kinds of food and I think dining at Le Cellier is a wonderful experience in itself.

:thumbsup2

sounds like you had a good meal. How was the service?

LOL!!! True... altho I bet he got the star treatment... :)
He had an entourage with him too.

Oh and Jrabbit,
The service was excellent as always.
Our server David (From Ontario :) ) forgot (or possibly didn't hear) my request for lemon, but other than that he's great.
At the end of the meal I requested the recipe for the food we ordered but the only one they have was the risotto.
And instead of bringing the 1 recipe, he brought out all the printed recipes they had... dressing, cheese soup, and some others.
That was very nice of him.

I am such a potato lover but might be willing to try risotto. Is it rice?

Risotto is a very short grained rice, such as arborio. It's traditionally fried while dry before cooking, although that is rarely done anymore. It's quite starchy, and if you like potato you will almost certainly enjoy risotto.

Just to clarify, were you able to share one TS credit? Are most restaurants OK with this? It just seems like a whole lot of food at once if you do not share.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx foe sharing.

Carkey,
Yes, risotto is rice and it's awesome!!!
The side dish is not a big portion so if you're adventurous go ahead and try it...
I think it cost $2.99 or 3.99.
But very filling.
I can make a meal out of 2 orders of that...
No need for an entree... :)

deaney,
Unfortunately we didn't do DDP this time around.
But in Sept, I definitely will share 1 credit because it's been proven that there is no way both of us could finish 2 credits... :)
I haven't heard any issues with sharing at regular restaurants (not buffet, AYCE, family style).
sorry I can't give you a definite answer...

thanks everyone for your responses...
It's nice to know that someone actually reads my review... :teeth:

We did LeCellier for the first time last week. DH and I loved it. DD(18) hated it. She does not eat meat so she ordered the salmon. It was not fully cooked and she was just going to leave it there. We told the server when she came and she took it back to have it cooked more. DD also did not like the sauce. Picky, picky. I was a little disappointed in the cheese soup. It was very good, but, after reading all the glowing reviews on the board, I guess my expectations were just a little too high. I'd have it again, though, and recommend it, along with the pretzel bread. DH had the New York strip. Even though he gets it well done it was still tender. I had the fillet mignon which was excellent.

husband and i will be at WDW this friday. :Pinkbounc

we have dinner reservations for Le Cellier on Saturday, May 27th...our one year anniversary! we are so excited..i dont know if i can make it till friday!! thanks to everyone who left a review...i loooove mushrooms and may have to try that dish everyone's raving about!! i really want to save room for dessert though...hopefully i wont be too stuffed!! :teeth:

One of my favorites! Trying to convince my DS to change Alfredos to LeCellier in Aug.

For all those who said they can not get an ADR at Le Cellier for dinner, try a late lunch time, that is what I did just 2 weeks prior to my departure date and this way you can still enjoy the restaurant. ;)
