My husband wants to take my mother in law to Le Cellier for her birthday dinner during our October trip. It will be myself, husband, mil, 13 yo daughter, 13 yo stepson, and 3 yo daughter. We will be paying out of pocket. Not only do I not want to pay for any of the adult meals for the 13 year olds, they would not eat a thing on the menu. They are more mac & cheese/ nuggets kind of kids. Will a child that old be allowed to order off of the kids meal? Do they give a large portion and charge for an adult meal? I also don't want to pay $40 for some mac and cheese. While I won't restrict what my mil orders, I don't really want to spend over $200 for the meal before tip.

Seriously, look around at other menus and see if you can find a place that all will like. Our meal at Le Cellier was "meh" and cost around $300 for four people. Of course, others have had stellar experiences, so this is only my opinion.

If it were my choice I would go elsewhere, but my husband says his mother has always wanted to go there and this is the only time we will be bringing her on a trip. I suggested he take his mother there himself, but he refuses because he said she will want her grandchildren there. There is not a thing on the regular adult menu that they will eat. Maybe they can just get a bowl of soup each and eat something else before going to the restaurant.

Le Cellier is unfortunately the MUST for DH too - with that said anyone can order off the kids menu and other than our most recent experience there, in the past they have been very accommodating.

Thank you. This is what I was hoping for. Were you not allowed to have an older child order from the kid's menu during your last visit or did your waiter just give you a hard time about it?

Really nothing about age - just had a non friendly waitress. My daughter was only 9 last trip and will be 10 this trip and based off all other prior visits I don't anticipate a problem her ordering from the kids menu as nothing will appeal to her on the adult and we're on the deluxe dining plan :)

You can order the mac n cheese as extra sides with the adult meals and then share with you kids. The cheese soup and pretzel bread are really good too.

Le Cdellier isn't what it used to be...good meal very expensive... Im a family of five and cost us over 300 when all was said and done... don't think you can order of the kids menus for what disney considers an adult (10 or older !!!). better off just ordering a few appetizers instead of main courses for the kids

I just ate there Saturday and ate the ad ons. I go the cheddar cheese soup and loaded mashed potatoes and a soft drink for $22. We also shared the Poutine fries. The mac N Cheese add on was like $11-12. It was a very good meal.

That's what I would do. And focus that this is a family meal, not just a meal for your mother-in-law. Also look at desserts and see if something there is appealing to the kids. But this might be a good time to let them understand that sometimes you take a hit for another family member and work around it without making them feel badly.

I could go without...but I'd have a mutiny on my hands. My DS(19), DD(16) and DH (ageless and gorgeous), insist we do this restaurant each trip:)

The last time my daughter ordered from the kids menu there she was 15. Anyone can order from the kids menu. The only time you cannot do this is a buffets or AYCTE for obvious reasons.
