I have never been to either restaurant and only plan on being in Epcot 1 night.I have PS for Le Cellier but thought it might be better to switch to R&C for the fireworks-eat and watch at the same time!
All advice is welcome!FYI-we will be going Dec7-15-not sure how the crowds in Epcot at night are!

We tried Le Cellier for the first time a couple years ago and were quite pleased. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all wonderful! Not to mention the desserts!

By contrast, I have only been to Rose & Crown for a drink. That menu just doesn't tempt me.... . But I have heard it is excellent spot to be in for watching shows/fireworks.

The food, service, and atmosphere are much better at Le Cellier. :) It's in my top 5 of all WDW restaurants! :) Rose and Crown is a good place to go for a drink, but I don't like their food. Getting a table with a view of Illuminations is NOT easy. If I were you I'd eat at Le Cellier and then watch Illuminations somewhere around the World Showcase. I like the bridge over by France. :)

Thanks!I think I will keep it as is!

I 2nd the above opinion. Le Cellier is a really nice restaurant, wonderful food, pleasant atmosphere. Rose & Crown is more crowded & noisy, the food selection is a little greasy for our tastes, the tables outside are nice for Illuminations, but I thought the stress of getting the water view table and eating their greasy fish & chips that late in the evening was just not worth it. Although, the night we did Rose & Crown something was wrong in the kitchen and the menu was limited and we had to eat on plastic plates with plastic utensils and drink out of plastic cups! So we probably just had a bad experience, but it certainly eliminated any further desire to watch Illuminations from there. There are plenty of good spots around the World Showcase to watch the show without having to deal with all that. We like to pop in Rose & Crown mid-afternoon to have a beer and munchies, but for dinner, prefer a nicer, quieter location.

Le Cellier... Cheese Soup!!!!

This thread interests me because I'm trying to decide which would be better for my in-laws. Posters on these boards like Le Cellier, but the UG blasts it as being the worst of all Disney full service dining. It's all opinion, of course, but with as badly as they flame it, and as accurate as I've found them on other things, it makes me hesitate to send them to Le Cellier.

Last Fall we ate at both restaurants(on different days). We liked them both very much, but, if I had to choose between the two my selection would be The Rose & Crown, because of the Shephards Pie and the Fish and Chips. Plus the appetizers and desserts were excellent. We ate at both restaurants in the afternoon before all the parades and evening festivities . Just for the record, our favorite restaurant at EPCOT is actually The San Angel Inn over in the Mexico Pavilion.

Never been to Le Cellier (sp), French food is bad with sauce to cover it up, French resteraunts are too crowded, I am just not a fan.

Just to clarify, Le Cellier is not French cuisine. It's a steakhouse that also has chicken, salmon, lamb, and even duck on its menu.

There are many good steak restaurants around the WDW area, but inside the parks, this one is probably the best. It is definitely a more upscale menu than R&C, more expensive too so there is really no comparison between the two. I think one of the above posters pegged R&C accurately, pub grub. Sometimes you're in the mood for pub grub, sometimes not, and sometimes you prefer something more quiet and refined. So I think the original poster will gather from the replies that there is a distinct difference between the two restaurants. If you can only be in Epcot one night, my advice is to experience Le Cellier, and then find a nice spot to watch Illuminations. I wouldn't count on trying to get an Illuminations viewing spot at R&C, sometimes you get lucky there, sometimes not. I wouldn't risk it if it's your only shot.
