I cant decide between these 2 for dinner at Epcot, we want to watch Illuminations and ive heard Rose and Crown is an ideal veiwing spot but we may want to eat around 6pm so that would be a little early anyway. My fiance and my dad are very picky eaters so Rose and Crown is ideal for them but as we are from England i feel we can have this food anytime and would like to try something different. Le Cellier seems to get very good reviews and im sure there would something they like on the menu.

I would have thought Le Cellier would have been a better choice for you. I chose Le Cellier over Rose and Crown, not only because of the good reviews, but as you stated being from the UK, you can have that food any time you like. Unless you want to specifically eat there purely for the views, I would think Le Cellier would be a nicer meal.

Yes thats what i thought, maybe they can have fish and chips for lunch from the harry ramsdens counter service and then Le Cellier for dinner

Le Cellier has wonderful food and a quiet ambiance to their restaurant. Go on allearsnet.com for specific menu selections. The R&S is something we've always wanted to try, but it's more difficult to get reservations there as it's small. No matter what, get reservations for both places. You don't want to depend on walk-ins. They are both very popular places. :cool1: Let me share another great place to watch Illuminations: along the lagoon in the Mexico outside eatery! we were lucky enough to stumble upon a table last summer after a rain shower; ordered nachos and margaritas...and had a fabulous view of the entire show:thumbsup2

Don't know how long you will be visiting, but if you intend to be in Epcot for 2 nights and you think the Rose and Crown will make somebody in your party happy, then book in advance. As stated above, regardless of food quality, its hard to just get in. Even during a quiet time in January, we were refused 3 times on 3 nights! Argh. I learned my lesson.

If you have acess to allearsnet.com; pull up their menu. we eat at LeCellier each time we go and love it.

that's what we do - DH has a fish & chips snack from the outdoor counter, and we have dinner at le cellier

Don't count on being able to get a good view of Illuminations at Rose and Crown, even if you're seated on the water-view patio. I had an awning over my head, and was hardly able to see anything. Had to get up and walk way over to the side of the patio (where I wasn't blocking anyone's view) so that I could see. I also wasn't hat thrilled with Rose and Crown's food.

I would much rather go to Le Cellier (great food!) and time it around Illuminations. There are lots of places to see the fireworks along the railing. Le Cellier will even hold your table (and time your meal) so that you can step out and watch Illuminations, even if you've already been seated at your table!

Since you are from the UK and want to eat at 6pm I would recommend Le Cellier I guess, although I am not as in love with the atmosphere as many people. The food is great, though.

But it is definitely worth stopping in to the Rose & Crown Pub for a pint and some friendly conversation! That is a Do Not Miss for me :drinking1

I have to say this about the Rose & Crown... I wouldn't call it authentic UK food, more a US interpretation of!! Fish and chips probably come closest. I expect you can say that about most "ethnic" food restaurants whatever country you are in (It's amazing how much different both Chinese food, and Italian food is here in US, to UK) The puddings are pretty great, they also have some very yummy starters, but I wasn't overly thrilled with the main courses. I'm UK born and breed, but have been in US for 10 years. The UK seems to have a pretty bad reputation for food, which I personally think is a bit unfair. I wish the Rose & Crown could try just a little bit harder with it's entrees, you know to try and dispel this myth a bit! I liked the Rose & Crown more for setting, it's a very nice spot on the terrace, but liked the food better at Le Cellier. I didn't like the whole underground thing, but then it wouldn't be called Le Cellier then now would it? It kind of felt like L'abri anti-aérien (The Air Raid Shelter)..that is probably completly butchered french, apologies!

We love both! R&C is our "first dinner" of our vacation. We really like it there. We have always gotten a 8pm ADR and never had trouble asking for a table outside to view. Yes we may have had to wait a little longer. but it is worth it. We do love Le Cellar too, the pretzel bread is awesome!

If you are used to English Fish & Chips, avoid Harry Ramsden's fish counter in Epcot like the plague. Absolutely not the same thing. Might fool someone who has never had the real thing!

Thanks everyone for your opinions, unfortunately we cant do both, although we will be in epcot for 2 evenings i have promised my older daughter we can go to Coral Reef and i cant go back on that. My younger daughter will only be 1 and from pictures ive seen Le Cellier looks quite dark so not sure how she would be with that. Ive studied menus for weeks, all my family think im obessed, i think the food at Le Cellier would be good but the setting of Rose and Crown looks better, i suppose i just need to decide whats more important.
