My family of 4 - me, dh, dd (11), dn (11), has a reservation for dinner at Le Cellier in November at around 6:15. We are staying at BCV. I wanted to eat at a restaurant in Epcot so that after dinner we could stay in the park for illuminations and enjoy the atmoshpere of Epcot. We do have park hopper tickets. However, we are not on the dining plan and I have seen many "not so good" reviews of Le Cellier recently. I am now wondering if i may get better food for my money at Yatchsmans Steakhouse instead and then walk or boat to epcot for illuminations afterward. If you have eaten at both, which did you enjoy most?

Personally we enjoy the Yachtsman far more than LeCellier. The food at Yachtsman is definately better as is the atmosphere.

I've never understood the hysteria over eating at LeCellier. Yes, it is convenient being in the theme park, but that's about it. In the past we've waited 45 plus minutes past of ADR time before getting seated, which didn't work well when our children were younger. ::MinnieMo

I would choose Yachtsman. Le Cellier is overrated IMO. I have never had such salty food in a restaurant in my life. Blech..... Yachtsman has much better food.

I never ate at the yatchsman so I can't comment on that but we did go to Lecellier last June and loved it!

I personally like Le Cellier but the food is on the small side and over priced. (The bread sticks are incredible though!) I would say, skip the dinner and just go here for desert. ::yes::

One of the attractions of Le Cellier is that it is a great deal on the Dining Plan. If you are paying OOP it is on the expensive side.

Personally we love Le Cellier and eat there very trip. We always get the Dining Plan though.

As for people that don't understand the hype, there are lots of them. However, based on the difficulty of getting reservations, there are even more like us that do understand it.

Anytime I could go to Le Cellier would be good. We ate there a couple of months ago and the food was delicious. The soup was waay to salty but everything else was very nice.

We really enjoy Le Cellier every trip. We have always had really good food an service there;)

We dined at both YM and LC and Le Cellier was wonderful. I felt like both filets were very similiar in texture and taste. We had excellent service at both and would return to LC but not the YM.

I don't think most of us (or at least myself) who give Le'Cellier a less than spectacular review of the place feel it is terrible; we just don't think it measures up to some of the over-hyped and over-rated reviews. It is what it is, a good but not great steak house that is extremly popular because when on the DDP it is the only steak house on the plan and is a great value. It fails (IMHO) to rock my world with an incredible dining experience that makes me forget all other steaks or restaurants I've ever had, as some seem to post online.

Normally I would say go there and experience it yourself. But since you are going out of pocket instead of on the dining plan, there are several other places I would recommend. The Yachtsman is very good for a few dollars more. Also Shula's is what I would call an "excellent steak" and would also recommend.

I have eaten at both....I would pick LC of Yachtsman. While the Yachtsman is good, IMHO its a bit over priced and stuffy. Not something I enjoy.

LeCellier is small, which is why its hard to get into. And yes on the DDP its a great deal, which is also why its hard to get into.

I prefer the steaks at LeCellier , the coffee rubbed Kansas city strip steak is AWESOME.

I have seen alot of people say that the food was way to salty, I have never found it that way, just well seasoned.

Honestly I would take reviews whether they be good, bad or middle of the road with a grain of salt. My husband and I often try restaurants that others pan, and love them (ex San Angel Inn---we went on our last trip and loved it. I have read alot of not so good reviews on that resturant).

definately yachtsman... even teppan edo had better steak than le cellier for us. i have le cellier and yachtsman reviews on "two delicious birthdays" on the dining review board.

If you're paying OOP, go for Yachtsman! But Le Cellier is worth a try if you can get a reservation.

You already have an ADR for Le Cellier - keep it!! It's a good restaurant and hard to get into. I think the "bad" reviews you read are due to the fact that people have read all the great reviews and expect to be blown away. I wasn't blown away - definitely not my favorite Epcot restaurant but it was good and is a good choice when you're traveling with kids. Enjoy!!!!:goodvibes
