Le Cellier or Chefs?

Has anyone tried these places recently? I have been reading some trip reviews and heard some bad reviews of Le Cellier. We LOVED Le Cellier back in 2005 but I know that was a long time ago and I am sure things have changed. Someone mentioned they may have a new chef but I don't know how true that is.

I have also read some negative reviews of Chefs but I have never eaten there. I am sure each place will get both positive and negative reviews but just figured I would ask if anyone has tried either of these places in the last few weeks or months. My DH and I are pretty much meat and potatoes kind of people and would like to have a nice steak on the DDP without using 2 TS credits. I was thinking either Le Cellier or Chefs for a good steak. Any other places you could recommend for a good steak using 1 TS credit?

TIA

Haven't eaten at LeCellier recently, but my mom and sister ate at Chefs de France last July and absolutely loved it (however, they did say that the hostesses were rather snooty).

It's been a while since we at at Le Cellier (mostly because we prefer Chefs ;) ). We ate at Chefs in October & it was great as usual.

I'd go to Chefs de France: I had a steak a few days ago at Le Cellier and it was inedible. Definitely Chefs de France!

This is good to know. I wasn't able to get Le Cellier at all during our trip, but I have an ADR for Chefs de France and am excited to try it.:thumbsup2

I've been seeing a lot about Le Cellier being overrated lately--is that true?

We enjoyed both in September. things do change.

Here's what else I'm going to say about the DIS. First a place gets hyped too much...then the place gets totally dissed (or maybe it's DISSSed ?!?!:rotfl2: )

Stick aournd the DIs long enough and you see patterns. It's happened to Sci-Fi, POR, Boma, WL...and more, though those are the major ones that come to mind. Waiting on the tide to turn against CSR, mostly I still see praise.

I think folks read a rave review, then get their expectations too high. When it doesn't meet those expectations, they write a negative review.

Though I have also personally seen some formery great places take a turn for the negative. Le Cellier offered a LOT for the money before. Maybe they have finally made big cutbacks to match some of the cutbacks made elsewhere. I do know they recently changed the menu. Also, with menu changes...many folks go expecting theri favorite - when it's no longer onthe menu, monthing esle will do.
DH and I still morn the loss of the chocolate lava cakes at Flying Fish.

It's a toss up -both are eqaully good (or bad) depending on your perspective - but I like le Cellier more because of the beer........

chefe de has the best appetizer I've ever had anyplace though, the escargot. That alone is worth the trip there

good luck

OH mickeyluv'r your observation is SPOT ON

We have done both and I much prefer Chef's. Both the food and ambiance are excellent.

We have eaten at Le Cellier 3 times and Chefs twice and enjoyed all of our meals. I would say if you loved Le Cellier in 2005 you will still love it.

I would choose Le Cellier if we could do only one, but if you haven't tried Chefs yet I would recommend you try it.
