We had a lunch ADR for June, and changed it to dinner, because we thought they may not have fillet for lunch, and that's what DH would order. Now I really think the lunch menu is "better " for our needs, and I couldn't get a lunch ADR for our visit.

If you've recently had dinner at Le Cellier, was it worth it? We are not on dining plan.

I'm trying to decide the same thing as well but want to suggest that you keep checking for the lunch ADR. Our trip is in 30 days and I just this morning was able to get a lunch ADR. Now to decide which one to keep!

Let me tell you, i was soooo excited going to le cellier in Sept.2010 cause of all the rave reviews. I dont understand what the hype is about. :confused3 I was sooooooo disapointed in that place. It was the worst steak i've had, tasteless and very fatty! The famous cheese soup everyone raved about wasnt anything special at all. It was just mediocre. I've had much better soup & steak in my hometown Keg restaurants. sorry. That place is so overrated. I would never go back. I honestly find it laughable that they are charging 2 TS for dinner now! HAHAHAHHAHAHA! Are you kidding me?! I wouldnt even waste ONE TS on it!!!

To each their own. For DW and I, it was one of the best meals of our lives. The steaks were melt-in-your-mouth, the service was stellar and man oh man that soup...I could have had three bowls of it. Your Keg must be better than ours, because the one in Kitchener specializes in shoe leather.

I had lunch there since the change and the mushroom fillet is still on the menu... it was heavenly :goodvibes

Our party of 4 ate there Monday evening for first time. I had read all the latest reviews and was seriously considering changing to the Yachtsman's steak house but decided to stay with LeCellier. Your basic question was is it worth it. Answer . . . . No. The food was excellent so cannot complain there. Service was just OK, nothing great, nothing bad. Two of us ordered the mushroom fillet and two ordered the new york strip. All were cooked to perfection and were excellent. But for the price $300 w/tip for 4, just seemed a little much. that was with three glasses of wine and an app for all, and one desert. Yes, ceasar salad is an app! The thing I did not like was the cramped quarters of the dining room. I expect that at disney in non sigs, but this was too crammed. Know that many tables you are just right next to your fellow diners, so if privacy is high on your priority list, this may not be for you. Obviously, you are likely to pay this amount at any disney sig. rest. but I just didn't feel the value for the price.

We book it every vacation and it's always been for dinner. This is one of my husband's favourite restaurant. For me, I'm okay with it. I enjoy what I usually order but it's not a "must dine" place for me.

I did notice that the filet is on the lunch menu, although I'm not sure if it's the same size or quality. We don't tend to eat steak for lunch so we prefer to dine there for dinner.

We're not on the DDP so the fact that it's now 2 credits for dinner doesn't affect us, but the thought that they would increase the price to get it in the same price level as other signatures is annoying. I didn't find the filet worth a signature price. But that's just me.:confused3

We ate there on Monday for lunch...and no way would we eat there again. It is definitely not worth the OOP cost. DS loved his burger, but the other entrees weren't good...my filet was downright terrible. It was small (and I knew that when I ordered) and I didn't even finish it. Yuk! It was way too salty and didn't even taste like a filet. I do understand that most will tell you that for lunch it is not considered signature dining, but when you are charging me $26.99 for a 5 oz steak and a small serving of risotto...it had better be amazing! It was definitely less than amazing. To each their own, but I won't be eating there again. It was not worth the $100 that it cost for the four of us to have lunch. If you do decide to try it...stick with the cheese soup and pretzel bread! That was good stuff!:goodvibes

I was sooooo looking forward to eating here for our wedding celebration week. I had tried it a couple of years ago and it instantly became my favorite restaurant. Everything was fantastic and the steak was soooooo good. DH was not able to try it the day I did, so for the past 2 years all he heard was me raving about Le Cellier. We had dinner there this past Saturday 3/26/11 and it was not bad, but definitely not at all what I was raving about. The steaks were good, but not as great as I remembered them to be and everything else was just ok. DH enjoyed his meal, but did not understand where all my craziness for the place was coming from and honestly after this meal, neither was I. It really got to me that this was not the greatness I remembered it to be and to have to use 4 credits for the both of us for something that was not worth it really got to me too. It's not that it is bad because that is not the case, but as much as I hate to admit it, it is not worth 2TS and next time we go it will not be for dinner.

We had dinner there on Sunday the 20th. I had 2 nights on the deluxe dining plan, so we splurged and booked Le Cellier. We have dined here many times prior, before the change to signature.

Do I think it's worth 2 TS credits? An emphatic no, but honestly, none of the signature restaurants really truly are, even if you order the most expensive entree. But did I enjoy it? Absolutely, yes. There are some much better appetizers, including the lobster salad I ordered. I got the strip steak as my entree and it was cooked perfectly, although my potato gratin wasn't really hot. DD loved her filet, which was simplified to please her 9 year old palate. She got it medium rare, with the smashed potatoes and sauce on the side - she loved it. I had a few bites and it was very tasty and also cooked to the proper temperature (lol, folks wonder how I ever convinced a 9 year old to eat medium rare steak, but she loves it.) She had her brother's cheese soup to dip her breadsticks in, and I don't think it had changed at all. DS had the ceasar salad and the kids sirloin steak with fries. He's my eldest at 12, but much pickier than his little sister and likes his steak well done. So they switched menus and he ordered from the kids one. He had no complaints about his meal. Standard kids steak & fries and a generous serving.

The desserts were definitely more upscale and on par with other signatures we've dined at (Yachtsman, Calif Grill and HBD.) I believe DD and I split the chocolate trio and the lemon cheesecake. Much smaller portions than before, but more concentrated flavors. They were very good.

There was also an improved wine list, though not quite as long & varied as those other signatures I mentioned above. I didn't feel like my server was equipped to help me choose a wine, and I often have my servers at Yachtsman and CG make recommendations for me (and been very pleased.) The saving grace on the wine list was the Beaulieu Vineyards 2007 Tapestry blended red for $59 - or roughly $47 with my TiW card. That's $3 less than my local liquor store sells it for. A real bargain for a bottle of wine at a restaurant. I had 2 glasses and they recorked and bagged the remainder for me to take back to the resort. (They have to double bag it and seal it with a copy of the receipt inside. I had never asked for this at WDW before, but they do it here in Illinois; only reason I thought to ask. I'm glad I inquired.)

All in all, it was a good meal; not stupendous but very good. I have 2 ADR's (a lunch & a dinner) here for our July trip and we will not be on any dining plan. I think we will probably keep the lunch ressie and change the dinner to Yachtsman.

I think that Le Cellier may improve even more - it's only been a month since the change so give it time. But if I have dinner here again it will definitely be with our Tiw discount, and not as 2 TS credits.

(lol, folks wonder how I ever convinced a 9 year old to eat medium rare steak, but she loves it.)

A few years ago when we were at Disney and ate at Le Cellier, my son who was 6 at the time had ordered the steak in the children's meal. When asked how he would like it he responded with "blue". :scared1:. He has always order his steak medium (like I do) and seemed to enjoy, but my husband orders his steak "blue" all the time and he decided he would try it. I explained to him that he can try "rare" if he wants because I don't think he would enjoy steak that's cold in the middle :crazy2: . He did and from that day on, he orders his steak "rare". He's older now and he has tried "blue" but seem to really like "rare".

I guess my point it that children do have different tastes. He also refuses to eat child type food such as chicken fingers, fries, hotdogs, hamburgers etc. He gets so upset when we tell him he as to order from the children's menu since he was a child. At the age of 7, he ordered from the adult menu and when we did get DDP, we purchase an adult DDP for him. We did get lots of looks and a few times, they needed to check our "key" to confirm the DDP.

Although he still loves Le Cellier, he did admit that his steak was not as great as he remembered it. Now, he always asks to go to Teppan Edo and Tokyo dining - he absolutely loves sushi - and not the kind I like which I call fake sushi (california rolls), he loves the raw sushi.

Sorry, went out of topic. When I saw your post, I had to post as well because very few children I know eats like my son. We should form a club!:lmao: ;)

Ken, hahahahahaha you make me laugh. Specializes in shoe leather. LOL!!!! :rotfl2:

I agree to each their own, DW and I just can't get enough of the mushroom filet, go each year and last year several times, once we even got in with a walk up. Done both dinner and lunch in the past the lunch filet was a little smaller but loved it.

For those who go OOP (or even if you're on the DP, and noticed the prices) - is dinner worth the cost? Compared to other signatures? Don't care about credits; we never do the DP and won't be doing it this time either.

Thanks.

I do plan on going to heaven, but I certainly hope the mushroom fillet is not sitting on the table for that great feast someday..... It was not so heavenly for me. :lmao: (J/K)

I hear ya!:thumbsup2 Everyone has their own preferences and no matter what it is, some will think it's the living end and some will think it's just... the end! :lmao:

I had the mushroom filet at lunch and the portion was, indeed, smaller... which from my perspective was fine. I like to have my big meal in the middle of the day, but I'am not that big an eater. What I find amusing is that some people complain about the HUGE portions at Disney and how they can't eat all that and it's wasteful, yada, yada, yada. Yet when they are faced with a smaller portion they complain that it isn't enough! :rotfl: Maybe it's just me, but there ain't no pleasin' some folks! :rolleyes1
