Ok; we have an adr at 8:50pm at le cellier on the tuesday after memorial day. Evening magic hours at epcot that night are from 9-midnight and I'm hoping my son can grab some fast passes at 9pm while we have dinner so we can then hopefully avoid big crowds.here's the question:what are the chances we will be seated at 8:50 or any time close to that on an emh night???thanks for any help!

Most likely that late in the evening you should be sat on time or very close to it.

Is your son dining with you? If so he has to be with you in order for you to be seated.
Meaning if he is off grabbing FPs for everyone they won't seat you until he is back. AND if he is late you run the risk of losing your ressie. Yes most places can hold your table for up to 15 mins past your adr time....but some won't. Ohana and LeCellier are 2 that are sticklers on this. Because they have people waiting all the time for a table. If they can get people in and out they make more money.
So if you are late they could cancel your dinner.

I would grab the passes before heading over to Canada to check in.

Enjoy your trip!!

Thanks...wow.what if I tell them I have their order if they want to watch fireworks outside.and I just realized if we're on dining plan do they need to hold our kttw or do they just swipe them at beginning of dinner or end?

Sorry that won't work. The restaurants are not prepared to plate up "to go" food.
And even though you may know what he wants to order, they still won't let you in, he has to be there or you won't be seated.
Sorry there just isn't a way around it.

As for the KTTW card, you usually give it to the server at the end of the meal. But I have had one server ask to verify which plan we were on during our first trip.

You are going to try to get fastpasses at 9pm for Soarin? Chances are the machine will be out of them by then anyway. I don't do EMH very often but I didn't think they used fastpasses for EMH anyway. :confused3

They will not seat you until everyone is there.

The last time we had an 8:50 reservation at Le Cellier we were seated at 9:30.

On our last trip in December, we had a late ADR at Le Cellier (not an EMH night), but the hostess made it very clear that if the entire party was not present when our name was called, we would not be seated and we would lose our reservation. I heard them telling another group the same thing - that if they left the waiting area to go watch IllumiNations, then they would lose their reservation if their name was called and they were not there. If you want to eat at Le Cellier, I would not risk the reservation by having part of the party not present.

<Edit: Added Info>With regards to the seating time. It varies. Sometimes the resturant is on schedule and you'll be seated at or close to your ADR. Perhaps even before if you show up early, but it's just as likely that things will be behind schedule and you won't be seated for a while. We had one dinner reservation (8:50 pm) and we were seated at 8:50. We had another for 9:05 and weren't seated until 9:35. So it really varies.

Also, as PP's have indicated, even in early December when the crowds were low, all of the Soarin' FP were gone by mid- to late-afternoon. There is very little chance that there would be FP at 9:00 pm, even for EMH. (Actually, do they issue FP for EMH hours? Two years ago the last available times coincided with park closing.)
