We haven't been to Le Cellier in about 5 years. I used to always order the mushroom filet because it was their signature dish, but I'm not a huge fan. I'd skip LC altogether on our upcoming trip if DH and DD hadn't requested it. They love the cheese soup...and again, I'm not a huge fan. Is there a steak or seafood dish that's to die for at LC, or should I just stick with the filet and request a different side? I don't like mushrooms but love a well-done and well cooked steak. We are going to BOG, Coral Reef, Skippers, and Mama Melrose this year...and will probably get steak at most of those places cause I love it. We are doing a bunch of others where I'll get seafood, etc.

While a filet mignon has a certain cache for a certain generation. I much prefer a ribeye which is also on the menu for the same price. It has more inherent flavor. While I would not order it well done (I prefer medium rare). It can stand up to more cooking. Are the sides more to your liking?

I agree if you are going to get a steak cooked well done you should choose a ribeye. It has more fat and can stand up to being cooked longer while maintaining more flavor.

There's a lot of grousing about Le Cellier. Some of it is because it's a 2 point restaurant and people with the regular dining plan feel ripped off by that. Others have complained about the quality of the steaks. However, the fillet doesn't seem to be the target of the complaints about the food. I had it when I went many years ago and I loved it. In general, cuts like a porterhouse or ribeye are superior due to their marbling of fat. The consensus seems to be that a short walk from Epcot to the Yachtsman will be a better choice for those cuts.

Then again, if you like your steak cooked well-done... Save your money and get whatever cut is the cheapest. You're going to end up ruining it anyway.

You can substitute your side at LC, so if you like the filet and don't like the mushroom side then it shouldn't be an issue. I do agree with the others that if you are going to order well-done, then the ribeye would be the better option.

Yachtsman is just better imo. I personally am no fan of LC. My husband and kids ate their meals, but didn't find anything remarkable about them. I have always felt that the draw is NOT actually the steaks. It's the setting, and the sides. Beer cheese soup. Poutine. Soft pretzels and warm butter. All warm gooey yummy comfort foods that appeal to almost anyone.
I think the "hype" about the steaks is just that.
To hear some regard LC meat as THE BEST STEAKS they've ever had, is likely do to geography and not having truly remarkable meat quality readily available.
Cooking a steak well done, gasp, is to your personal liking, but I'd encourage you to just try a proper medium, and see if you like it better. The flavor and tenderness of the meat is quite literally lost when overcooked to well done.
Then, if not tolerable, you can have refired to fully well.

I hate fat in any meat, so I get the filet and love it. DH like the fat, so he gets the ribeye. It all depends on what you prefer.

I am not a beef eater. Several years ago I had the fish entrée. I don't remember exactly what it was but it was the best meal I have ever had.

I do am not a fan of a fillet steak. have not been to LC in about 6 years because of the 2TS credits.
We are thinking of going this year.
Is the ribeye a bone in or boneless steak?

We have reservations in Early June...Haven't been in years, hope we won't be disappointed! I was going to get the filet, but based on this thread the rib eye may be the way to go!

My DH is a self-proclaimed "steak snob." When it comes to steak, he will only eat a filet bc all other cuts are too fat for him. He was not impressed with Le Cellier's filet and we won't be going back there. I would say if you have had the filet before and were not impressed, venture to try something else!

On our last trip to LC, I had the scallops (an add-on) as my meal on our last trip and they were almost perfect. We were not on the dining plan so I had more flexibility in what I ordered.

Are you on the dining plan? B/c if not, I might just order 2 apps - the soup and the seafood sampler - and leave happy...although the korean BBQ poutine might also get a look from me...

I think they have good options for a non steak person. I like the steak, but I would go for the poutine alone...if your family are forcing you to eat there-get what you want...

A few years ago, 4 out of 5 in my dining party had the filet at LC. Thirty minutes after our dinner, 4 out of the 5 were in the bathroom with ummm, gastrointestinal upset. I don't recommend the filet to anyone, anymore.
