Le Cellier..I Have To Ask

We have eaten at Le Cellier on every visit over the last 3 years and loved it every time. The food & service have been excellent each time. I always order a steak and it is always cooked perfect for me.

Of all the places we have eaten at WDW Le Cellier was one of our two favorites. The Castle being the other but that was for the atmosphere.

DH and I both had filet and they were awsome. I didnt think Le Cellier could meet all the hype of the boards but it did plus some.

I think LeCellier is good not great..I like Kona's teriyaki steak just as much.. You are not going to come out saying "this is the best steak i've ever had", but it is pretty good, especially for Disney...The cheese soup is the bomb though

Thanks to everyone that replied. I will keep my ressie. I am very used to Disney food (Disneyland) and I know how it usually is. The cheese soup and pretzel bread are what I am looking forward to the most. My kids love staek and it is on the kids menu. So again thanks to everyone.

It is what is. I wouldn't rank any of the Disney restaurants as some of the best I've been to. But I look at it this way, my family typically ends it's day in Epcot and, if I'm going to be in Epcot, LeCellier is one of the places we make sure we visit on each trip. My favorite steakhouse ever is Capital Grille, but if there was one in downtown Orlando, I still wouldn't make it a point of visiting it. I'm in Disney, want to see Illuminations, and if I want steak, I'm eating at LeCellier. I pick my restaurants based on where I'm going to be each day.

LeCellier is one of the best DISNEY restaurants. We really enjoy it. (btw, I would never choose a Beaches and Cream burger over LeCellier, though they are similarly priced!) We mostly do counter service, Crystal Palace (breakfast) & Trail's End, and LeCellier occasionally. I'm not a big steak eater though.

We ate there last week....I would say that overall the meal was good, but not great. Good for disney, but someone who is used to great steaks would not be overly impressed.

I thought the highlight of the meal was the cheese soup and pretzel bread. The creme brulee was very good as well.....

I hope it as wonderful as I have read on the boards.... We will be having Thanksgiving Dinner there this year!!

We ate there 4 times in 10 days this March, we have 2 ressies for our 6 day stay in a few weeks and 3 dinners on our March '08 trip. 'Nuff said.

I think anytime anything gets hyped it's a dangerous situation.

I ate a lot of hyped things when we went in April:

Tonga Toast - Gross
Dole Whip Float - YUMMY!
Zebra Domes - Disgusting
Le Cell - Delicious! The mushroom fillet was delicious and melted in my mouth like butter

You may go to Disney and think my opinions are completely whacked, because your tastes are different than mine.

I'm glad that you're keeping your reservation, who knows LeCell could be a new family favorite for you guys.

We went again yesterday for lunch. We go several times a year. The cheese soup was great-much better than the last time I was there in June. It was smooth and tasy-in June it was chunky and tasted wrong. The Beefsteak Tomato Stack - with caramelized onions, marinated mozzarella and yuzu vinaigrette was good but needed much more cheese. There were only two little pieces. The strip steak was much better than the fillet yesterday-great flavor. I ordered a shrimp and scallop dish on the menu with a "lobster cream sauce" I got the The Shrimp, Scallop, and Mussel Bouillabaisse - pearl couscous with rich vegetable broth $19.99 from the OLD menu! I knew it did not taste like lobster cream sauce and that there were NO mussels mentioned on the menu! I thought I was crazy until I just read the wdwig.com menus-lol. Our waiter was great. The creme brule was awesome.

We ate there during our trip in July, and the food was wonderful! The service was excellent as well. It was our DS15's birthday, and we had pre-ordered a cake for him as a surprise. The server was awesome the entire dinner. When it came time to have dessert, she came out and took our orders (with a sly wink to my wife and I!), and then proceeded to bring out the birthday cake instead! Was he ever floored. The smile on his face was priceless. The best meal we ate at the World.

We do love a good steak, and we all had the filet. Everyone's cooked to their liking, and melted in the mouth. We all asked for the sauces on the side, as we do not feel that a good steak needs a sauce, but we tried a few bites, and the sauces were quite tasty. The cheese soup has been bashed by some, but we thought it was awesome!

While some have not had as good an experience, we would recommend it.

Adding: We were eating during Illuminations. Not as crowded, since it was almost 9 pm. Might have had an impact.

I am a serious steak lover and have enjoyed excellent steak dinners in Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco at very fine dinners.

Le Cellier's filet mignon is excellent. It is beyond believable for a Disney meal. As to "regular" non-Disney restarurants, it is also excellent.

I also very much enjoy their cheese soup. I have had excellent service all but one time and I go every trip.

I have also enjoyed excellent steaks at Yachtsman, but I still prefer Le Cellier.

I ate there Thurs night. I thought it was great. I had the soup, mushroom filet and chocolate mouse. The steak melted in my mouth. No complaints at all. My waitress wasn't the best but I had so- so service all week. My mom had the NY strip and she loved that too.

we think le cellier is ok - but not "all that" the way some people are desperate to get ADRs to eat there

the steaks are good, as well as the cheddar cheese soup - never understood the fascination with the "pretzel bread" - it's just a pretzel, only longer! - don't like the way the tables are THISCLOSETOGETHER and it's quite noisy in there at dinnertime (add a crying baby or two, and it's loud)

this coming trip, we've chosen to eat elsewhere

even the concourse steakhouse is more subdued....

I think there are a couple of reasons why Le Cellier is so over-hyped here:
  • It is a very good restaurant for a theme park
  • It is very "safe" food - steak
  • It's kind of expensive, so people on the DDP think they are getting a great bargain
Personally, I think it is way to crowded - the tables are right on top of each other. Plus they seem to frequently get backed up so you have to wait well past your ADR time before being seated. I do like the cheese soup though - I wish they would erect that stand outside that sells the soup in a bread bowl like they did a few years ago.

Stinky Pete wins.
He's exactly right on every point.

If you are going to F&W, they will have a stand in Canada with the Cheddar Soup and the Salmon.

I really enjoyed my steak there. Then again, at home we rarely go out to eat so the only steaks I can compare it to are the steaks DH buys for me to grill, and they ain't filet mignon!

Not only were our steaks good, the service we got was excellent. Our waiter was a friendly young guy who constantly kept checking to make sure everything was ok or if we needed anything. Everyone there was nice. Our DD was a pain and kept getting out of her seat to sit on my DH's lap and she almost tripped the CMs a few times, but they just kept saying "Don't worry about it". We were seated immediately too.

We're going back to Le Cellier in November if the thought of paying OOP doesn't kill me. Our last bill on the free DDP was over $170 I think! :faint:

When I tried to get an ADR at LeCellier for anytime of our stay Nov 28 to Dec 5 and could not...the CM helping me said it's one of those things. LeCellier has taken on a new found popularity due largely to the many discussion boards on the internet.

I'm hoping for a cancellation so I can go...it's my favorite place to eat at WDW. :goodvibes
