When we were there last month, I believe it was the wild mushroom risotto. However, we were able to switch and both DH and I got the cream cheese mashed potatos.
I also managed to switch the risotto as I dont care for mushrooms. I like the potatoes and veal demi glace that comes with the NY strip, so I just asked for a filet instead of the NY strip, DD also had a filet with mash, and other DD had a filet with mac n cheese.
I love the mushroom filet but DD hates mushrooms and she isn't crazy about risotto. She got the filet with no sauce and substituted the mashed potatoes. She said it was wonderful. I never thought of asking for it with the veal demi glace from the NY Strip - that sounds wonderful too. I may have to try it in December!
I ordered it with cream cheese mashed potatoes. Both that and the meat were very good, but definitely not enough food for the price, even for filet mignon.
Le Cellier is one of my favorite restaurants in all of WDW. I have always had the filet mignon with maple bbq sauce...I thought they took all of that meal away. It makes me so happy to know I get still get the same meal....I never had the bbq sauce anyhow.
And about mushrooms having no taste, I am with you....Yeah right! They taste wild and earthy. Not anything I love. I can eat them in a salad, but only if they have dressing on them.
Anyone looked in Canada lately to see if they actually sell the maple BBQ sauce they used to use? If they do, I'm seriously considering buying a bottle and taking it in with me and putting it on my steak... I loved the maple BBQ filet, and was BUMMED to see it was gone..
It's good to know you can switch the risotto for the mashed potatoes. DD17 is already planning her 18th bday trip and she wants to eat here on her bday.
Mmmm, I don't generally like mushrooms and my mom and I LOVED the risotto. Although I would also like to try the filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes!
When we were there last December, I had the mushroom filet. I usually like mushrooms but these did seem to have a very stong and overpowering taste. I know the bad news is that the other filet is gone from the menu but the good news is that I have read on here that many people have asked for no sauce (or a different sauce) and switched the risotto for the mashed...so it was pretty much the same as the other filet used to be.
