Le Cellier-Anyone Who Has Been There For Lunch Lately?

We just ate there on Sunday for lunch and as far as I'm concerned, Le Cellier is still as good as ever. I had the NY Strip. I was a little apprehensive about eating the steak, because I have the lap band and steak is something I have to be careful about. All I have to say is that was the softest, most tender piece of steak I've had in a long time. The service was excellent too. I couldn't decide between the au gratin or the cream cheese potatoes, so my server offered to bring me both. I politely declined, since I knew I probably wouldn't eat them anyway. As a matter of fact, the only reason I left any steak on the plate was because of the portion size.

I've decided that when I go in October, I'm going to try to switch our lunch ADR to a dinner one for comparison. Right now, I can't find any time available for now. They were setting up for dinner as we were finishing and I noticed the fancy napkins and the wine glasses that were being put out. You might argue that ambiance is a part of the package.

I do have to say that while eating lunch there last Thursday, we did not get the filet and got soup, sandwiches, salads. I saw them carrying a mushroom filet to another table and it was so tiny it looked like a meatball sitting on rice/risotto. I hope whoever got it was happy with that bite of meat, because there wasn't much there. We rarely do the ddp now, but sometimes will do it for one night (a nice DVC perk), so I will stick with a lunch TS when using the ddp. I predict lunches becoming very hard to get her in the future.

This made me laugh. My DH and I ate lunch at LC in March and ordered the filet. It was the size of a meatball. We laughed at the asburdity of such a tiny portion for the price. We even caught the table next to us laughing at it. (Wasn't hard, the were sitting so close). I don't eat much, so it was a good size portion for me but I would think a hungry male would not be too pleased with the portion size of the meal.

That is funny. Thanks for the confirmation of my description. Can you imagine someone going in and wanting to share that entree for lunch!!! My DH could finish it in two bites (if he's on his best behavior!). Yes, this is one place where I have no problem finishing my meal, except for the chicken ceasar salad....now that is huge and I always have to share it with someone.

Your DH sounds like mine blink and it would be gone. I purposely booked a dinner reservation for our October trip we are on the DxDP and Le Cellier was one of DH's requests and having read the steaks portions were smaller at lunch.

DW and I had lunch at LC 2 weeks ago and can say it was as good as every other time we ate there. I was disapointed they didn't have the shaved prime-rib sandwich anymore, but it finally made me try the Steak Burger that I had said wanted to try but hadn't. It was very good. DW had her usual Mushroom Filet and said really good. It was same size as the others she has had as we took a picture and compared it to previous pictures. If said filet was the size l as PP said , would have either had server/manger get new one or take $$ off the check. Just my opinion, but find that when people on here post about an issue or problem it seems to be a little embellished.

Not embellishing, it was tiny, lucky you if yours wasn't. I didn't complain because I knew the menu had just changed and expected that the lunch, now so much a difference from the dinner price could be different. Also, as I said, I don't eat much so no use complaining about a small portion, it was enough for me, but it was the size of a meatball, 3 oz at most.

We are eating @LC in Aug for lunch, I didn't want to use 2 credits for dinner. We always have ordered the fillet. I guess we will fill up on pretzel bread if it's really small now.:confused3

Then in my opinion its your problem for excepting it and not having server/manger get another one or take $$ of the check. Just me, but kinda find it hard to believe LeCellier would even make something like that let alone try and serve it to a customer. Guess what you call/envison the size of a meatball is different from me. I say they are around the size of a half-dollar , but guess you are saying along the lines of a beverage coaster. either way it isn't the 5 oz that it says on lunch menu(new or old)

I don't believe I ever had a problem. Maybe you should go back and have another look at the posts. My post was confirming a like experience of a previous poster. No where in my post was there a complaint, rather for me it was a portion I would normally eat even if served more. Why would I send it back? So that they could get me a new one that I wouldn't finish? I never said it didn't taste good. More an observation of the size of the portion at lunch based on what I was expecting for the price. Are there no opinions acceptable other than yours? Isn't it possible we both had different experiences on different days?

As a side, when I am on vacation, I'm not looking to call a manager over and complain for every little thing. I take an experience and learn from it and in MY opinion I would not return because I did not think the place was a good value and there are other places to try. YOU and others have different opinions and since it is hard to get an ADR I am in the minority but I am not alone in my opinion.
