I really don't feel like planning out our August vacation right now so that come 180 days I can be online and schedule all of our FP+. I don't know where I want to go that far out. Would it be a prudent strategy to just get online at 180 days and schedule 7DMT every day (along with 2 other attraction at MK) and then as we get closer to our travel time to cancel the ones I don't need by making changes? That way I'll have all my options open as I get closer to a realistic planning date. All the rest of the attractions at WDW can be had about 30 days out, but 7DMT is really the only one that's crazy to get.

You can't make FP+ at 180 days out.
If you are staying at a WDW Resort, you can book 60 days (+10) in advance.
If you are NOT staying at a WDW Resort, you can book 30 days in advance.

And, while we're at it, 7DMT is not the most difficult FP+ to get.
That "honor" (at MK) belongs to Anna & Elsa Meet, and MSEP, and Wishes.

Well actually, you can't book FP until you're 60 days out, assuming you're staying on property. But is it really that hard to decide what park you want to be in each day? I haven't been to WDW since FP+ was introduced, but I always decided which park I wanted to go to each day ahead of time.

before our trip there was a Glitch at Epcot that was allowing you to book Fps in advance (more than 60 days, but only at Epcot) and you could book without tiers. I loaded up a bunch of days with Soarin and Test Track, and then changed them as we got closer to our trip when we realized we wouldn't be doing Epcot those days.

you know, I'm a veteran to the parks and should have known it was 60 days, but then again I don't really like FP+.

That said, I'd be smart to add A&E to the 7DMT selection for everyday. If I do that I don't have to worry about my park choices until like a week before we go.

And since I don't really make ADRs (eat a lot off property) I'm not locking myself into a park.

If I wasn't sure which park and what days, I'd schedule the tough to get everyday too. It's a smart strategy as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure if TSMM is still tough to get at 60 days, but that would figure in as well for me. My grandson loves SDMT, so multiple rides on that is a must. But, we plan ahead and know long in advance what days what parks and we park hop as well...but if I didn't, I'd do it just as you describe.

We're doing this with ADR's actually. We're more than 60 days out, don't have our exact schedule down yet so we've booked restaurants we might or definitely want to eat at for multiple days. When we get our schedule set, we'll go in and cancel what we don't need.
