Okay, here's my entry. Ideally I would have preferred to do the journalling on computer, but I did it at a crop last night, so hand-written/Cricut was the way it ended up:
The only rule, that I forgot to post in the beginning is that you enter with the understanding that if you win, you must hostess the next challenge and provide the next prize. Hence, we LOVE new blood.
Well, I'm in. I am not in love with the page, but reasonably satisfied. I think that the serendipity page I used made it overall too busy and it takes the emphasis away from my photo, but its okay.

If you are worried about your photo, why don't you matte it in a wider matte (or double matte it) but use the dark purple/eggplant color as your base matte. I think that is all you would have to do to really make it pop!!
I really have to get on this one!!

ETA: I see not it is double matted, but I would switch the order of the colors and put the darker color on the milticolored paper.
OK ladies... this is my first time playing along, but i had fun doing the layout. I am a journaling manic...so I felt a bit limited doing this...but I'm happy with how it turned out
