For those of you who are familair with layaway guidelines, if I were to put a GameBoy SP on layaway at Walmart now and it goes on sale for Black Friday, can I have the price adjusted that day and get the promotional price?

Thanks!!

Chris

I'm wondering about this too. Or if anyone knows, is Wal-Marts black Friday deals good online too?

I have done this many times. If there is something I already have on layaway, I will just have it price adjusted while I put my other things on layaway. HTH.

I think I read it was only 4 colors on sale black friday. I also wouldn't be surprised if they have specially packaged ones for this day. I would ask at walmart

Youo might as well lay it away now, while you're certain it's in stock. I doubt you will see a better price between now and Christmas at any retailer. Game systems are controlled and the same price everywhere. The only savings would be if a bundle is offered instead of the system itself.

I had the same experience buying the new PS2 last year.

You should check I know alot of places have put a time limit on how long you can have the price adjusted for. At Kmart it is the first 2 weeks.

If you layaway an item at Walmart and it goes on sale or clearance while in layaway, it is automatically adjusted. I have had this happen twice already on my recent layaway...went in to make a payment and the balance was lower than my slip. The sales clerk said the computer system automatically adjusts sales and clearance items in layaway system now. I would still double check the day it goes on sale, but it should be automatic.

Watch out with that because last year it was the first time ever at our walmart that they would not do price adjustments and price match on black friday. Don't be surprised if they don't.

Thanks for the heads up! Back to the question of on-line sales. Do they have the same stuff on sale on-line and what time does that start? Thank you! I, too, am wanting that gameboy!!! :flower:

Bumping!! :Pinkbounc
I'd like to know if you can buy @ Black Friday prices online too please. Anyone?!?!?!?!? :confused3
TIA!!

I do not know about Walmart online, but I do remember purchasing things on Black Friday for Toys R Us online. You could not get the early birds online, however you could get most of the items from the Black Friday Sale online. I remember because I purchased the stuff at midnight. I hope this helps. :earsboy:

I think to get a definitive answer to this question we need a poster who works at Walmart in the layaway department :confused3 ...I'm guessing that the Gameboys will be an in store only special. Does anyone else have experience with Walmart on Black Friday??? That is the one store I never go to...

Thanks!!

I tried doing the layaway before BF several years ago with a Gamecube system after seeng the BF ad on the net several weeks before. I did ask someone in the electronics department about this before I even tried doing it. He said that we could try but most of the time the stuff on sale for BF is packaged differently and has different upc codes. We went ahead and put it on layaway and sure enough the bundle pack for BF and the pack I had were packaged differently with different codes.

I called my SIL who works in layaway at our Walmart. She said the way the new system is set up is anything that goes on sale in the flyers is automatically adjusted in the layway system. Now as far as BF goes she is not sure if the UPC will be different or not, they have not been told anything yet. All she knows right now are the BF early bird specials are on pallets and shrink wrapped. They will be cut open at opening time and the way their store is doing it is special lines are set up to cut down on the chaos...so you will que when you come into the store for whichever BF special you want...computer, tv, gameboy, etc. She said they did this last year and it worked really well.

As far as what she has been told the BF early bird specials are ONLY available in the store, not online. But the regular sales items will be online too.

EXCELLENT FOLLOW THRU SCRAPHAPPY!!!

Yup she said it well-

One thing is it depends on HOW it was marked down-

All/Most of the "Doorbuster" 6-9am items are "special" or as walmart calls them a "Special Buy" in someway which means New UPC codes which means the sale is for that item specifically and the "regular" item isnt eligable for the deals. (They do this mainly so they can "Hold" the UPCs and have them not able to be sold before 6am) Ie if there is a special "white boxed" Leappad for 20 bucks the regular green boxed one isnt eligable for the sale as its a "different item" 99.95% of the time they wont price match the original item for the sale price (EXCEPTIONS DO APPLY)

If its just in the Ad for the week with a lower price then you are more than able to price match it *OR* if its an item the store price matches against another store then you can match it- as long as its the exact same item... (EXCEPTIONS DO APPLY)

One thing that is *very* prevelant this year is the "store exclusives" esp with Mart and Toys R Us which would make the items "different" and itd be up to the mgr of that dept whether they would price match it. Most mgrs and dept associates (not necessarily ALL associates) will know what their view and response to it is.

Mart is doing lots more price matching on the corporate level right now and some stores (Like mine) who are not on the "new system" quite yet may be a little slower at price matching right now
