LAX to MCO in December

Those times are the same times (plus/minus a few minutes) that we take annually with AA. We always fly in June/July each summer for a week. We have paid anywhere from 225.00 - 405.00 RT per person. This year for some reason AA prices are way up... At last check it was way over 400.00 from LAX to MCO on our selected dates. I checked the Delta site and booked through Delta this year. The price was only 229.00 per person round trip, saved me over 700.00 total for our family. And we are actually taking a non-stop redeye... We get in to MCO at 6 AM and I am actually looking forward to this flight as we will be in Orlando way eariler than normal. Our return flight with Delta leaves around 7 PM vs. the 1:20 time.. We get more hours there too....
So Delta it is for this family in June...

I'm started to seriously plan on taking the Delta flights. While I would like for them to be lower, they have consistently been at $399/person. AA has been ranging from $480 to $600/person! Do you think your $229/person rate is because of when you are flying? I'm hoping the $399 will be lowered to at least $350, but would LOVE $229!! Maybe December, even though it's early, is just a more expensive time to fly?!?!

I just found flights from LAX to MCO and back on United at about the same times as the Delta flights. Does anyone have any experience with these? They are $50 cheaper than the Delta flights, which is my goal of $350 per ticket. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welllllll...... We did it! For better or worse, we booked our plane tickets. We went with the Delta overnight. I'm glad to have it over and done with, and can stop stressing about it. As long as I can prevent myself from checking the fares in the future, I'll be great! Thanks for your help!

I haven't looked at our Delta itinerary in a few weeks. I finally remembered and checked it this morning. Everything (dates, times, seats) is the same. The only change is the flight numbers. Does that mean anything? I know there is so much time before our trip, just wondering why they would change the flight numbers and nothing else. Oh, and I also think there are more seats that have been sold. I've been worried about them cancelling the flight if it's not close to full!

Thanks to your email I checked my flight information. Mydeparting had changed the flight number but it still leaves at the same time. The arrival time is now 18 minuted later though. We all have the same seats though. The flight from Orlando to LAX changed flight number, departure time (now eariler by 20 minutes) but the seats are the same. Our flight from LAX to Orlando is almost sold out and it looks like there are only about 4 seats available at this time. Coming home there are about 1/3 still available.... Interesting. We depart at 10:20 PM to Orlando. Depart from Orlando at 6:40 PM. I guess I need to keep an eye out for and additional changes in the next few months.

Southwest usually has pretty good fares from LAX to MCO. Hard to say what they will be this year compared to prior years, but they are very competitive.

The main disadvantage is that SWA hasn't opened December dates yet. We had to wait until June to book last year for early to mid-December. I tried to convince my friends to fly from LAX (non-stop) instead of BUR (1 stop in PHX), as the airfare was much lower. They weren't buying the 1+ hour drive to/from LAX! They live just a few minutes from BUR.
