LAX to Anaheim

We are returning to DL this September and we have found a good price for a flight but it lands at LAX. As we flew into Santa Ana last time I was wondering how long it takes to get to Anaheim and how much the transfer will cost. Any good recommendations would be a real help!

Although Santa Ana is closer in miles, LAX is much quicker...plus its always cheaper to fly in there...(I lived there almost my whole life)
Sorry I can't tell you how much it would cost, but I'm sure someone will come along that knows...

LAX is about an hour away. Super Shuttle is $15/pp. Rental cars are only about $12/day, so depending on how many days you're staying, how many people in your party and if you have to pay for parking at your hotel it might be cheaper to rent a car.

SNA is only about 15-20 minutes away and Super Shuttle is $10/pp, rental cars are about the same price, or a little higher.

We flew into SNA last Wednesday arriving at 11:25 a.m., and the limo had us at DLH by a little after 12:00.

A colleague of my DH flew into LAX on Thursday or Friday afternoon. He decided to save money and use the shuttle. From the time he landed until he got to his hotel was 5 1/2 hours. First the shuttle drove around and around the airport until it was full. Then they hit traffic on the highway and it had rained and seemed to cause more problems.

Considering we only paid an extra $25 for the 4 of us in the limo, it was well worth the cost, and I really like SNA since it is much smaller than LAX.

Thanks for all your help!

I would prefer to fly into Santa Ana as it is closer and we did it last time so we know what to expect but the Virgin no-stop flight price is so good I am considering booking it! I'll leave it a while and have a good long think!

The transfer prices from LAX seem good as there is only 2 of us yet the transfer time doesn't! When we got Supershuttle from Santa Ana we were squashed on a seat with a guy who took up too much room and we both got back ache before the holiday even started, I couldn't do that for 1 hour, let alone 5 hours!

Are you not hiring a car?

We didn't on our first trip to LA. We had a Virgin package which included hotel transfer, which took just under an hour.

Would hire a car if possible. How do you plan on getting around? Virgin were able to arrange flexible day trips for us, but it did end up costing a bit and we were then locked to certain times when we had to come and go to attractions.

No we are only getting the flights from Virgin (possibly), we book the hotels elsewhere, it is cheaper for us.

We are planning to spend a day or two going into Hollywood etc but by public transport. We never hire a car in Orlando either as I don't drive I prefer my husband to enjoy himself and have a drink if he wants. plus if he drives he can say when we leave places and we don't want that now do we?

I will look at amtrak and go from there! The cost of car hire is something I can do without!

Is LAX really that bad? I prefer the times of the flights into LAX and was planning on taking the Disneyland Express.

Anyone have good experiences traveling into LAX?

I have southwest flights booked into LAX because it saves me 2 hours of travel time over flying into SNA. If I'm going to spend 5 hours crammed into an airport shuttle with my cranky toddler that just isn't worth it. I'd rather spend an hour in PHX. Maybe a taxi from LAX would be a better bet.

We flew into LAX in Jan. and from the time we got off the plane, onto Disneyland Resort Express bus and were to the hotel I think it was a little over an hour. We are going again in May and taking the DL Resort Express again.

Just avoid SuperShuttle. The Disneyland Express is far more comfortable and faster, provided you are staying at one of the DLR hotels. If you are staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel, hiring a car is definitely preferable to SuperShuttle. I got a very long nearly 2 hour tour (both to and from LAX) of towns and suburbs around LA. Sheesh! :sad2: Never again!

Everytime we have been to DL we take the Airport bus from LAX. Although there used to be a bus depot right next to the Howard Johnson. On our last trip 2005 the bus depot was no longer there and the route was a little different. Once you exit the baggage pick up you simply stand under the red signs where the busses and shuttles pick up. It take about an hour to get to your hotel and it cost about $25 for a round trip. We have always purchased our tickets from the travel agents but you can pay when you are there. They get on and collect the far when they get to the Disneyland hotel (used to be at the depot) then begin dropping at the various hotels

I just booked a trip to DLR yesterday. Usually we use Super Shuttle. Is there any way to pre-book the Disneyland Resort Express?

We have done so through Alaska and through WDTC. I like the bus because it has a restroom on it and it was on time when we used it. You can google DL Resort Express and get to their website too. I believe there is a coupon for it on mousesavers for $3 off as well. It also goes to Good Neighbor hotels, not just DL resort hotels.

It sounds like DisneyLand express is the way to go from LAX and with the coupon it's only a dollar more per person than SuperShuttle. Much better than taxi or town car rates. Is SuperShuttle reasonable to/from SNA or should I plan to use the DisneyLand express for my flight out of SNA also?

Does the DL Express drop off and pick up from the Good Neighbor Hotels like HoJo? I thought it only went to the three DLR hotels? If so, I would have no problem stopping at other hotels in the area before getting to HoJo.

The worst with SuperShuttle was having to find certain addresses and houses of people just trying to get home. The drivers were all over the darn place. I have a decent sense of direction and I could tell he wasn't exactly taking the most direct routes from residence to residence. I couldn't believe I was going to have to make four stops at people's residences driving hither and yon before going to DL. It was about a 2 hour ride and honestly, some of the areas we were in were not "great". I would definitely take DL Express and be more than happy to make a few stops at hotels before reaching a Good Neighbor Hotel.

From the schedule I just printed from their website the SNA/JWA and LAX busses pick up from the hojo every hour at 40 minutes past the hour. I assume that they drop people about the same time. LAX arrivals take about 1:20, and SNA arrivals take around 0:50. It's unclear what their scheduled airport->hotel transit times are.

That is so good to know! Thank you! Why didn't the Disney Travel Co. just tell me that!! They suggested SuperShuttle... Next time I hit DLR, it's Disneyland Resort Express for me!!

Does the Disneyland Express drop people off at the Disneyland Resorts first?? THANKS!

So I can get the Disneyland Express bus from LAX or SNA, pre-booked, to go to the Sheraton Anaheim (good neighbour hotel)?
I guess I could check on DL web site, can you book on there?
I'm from the UK, can I book it from here?

Sorry about all the questions!
