Fox News is reporting LAX is being shut down due to a security breach in the International Flight screening area.

Explosion at the international terminal 6, 7 & 8

They just said they're waiting for info to come in on Fox news.

CNN doesn't have anything yet either, commercial.

CNN is reporting unknown reasons...no mention of explosion...just the airport shut down....

CNN has it right now.

What are they saying (I never watch our dumb tv and I have no idea what channel CNN is on or where my BF has "hidden" the remote).

Now they're saying 2 incidents, the explosion and security breach.

No outgoing flights, traffic is being diverted.

But then they went back to hurricane coverage.

nothing confirmed at this point. Just a report from baggage handlers. Will keep watching for more updates

what CNN is saying is:

1. there was a suspicious person that they're looking into

2. there was a person carrying a bag with a flashlight inside with corroded batteries and that the batteries exploded and hurt 7 people.

The Tom Bradley bulding is closed at the moment and so is terminal 6,7,8

Waiting for more information. I came here first, hoping someone would have heard...

Watching Fox. They said they had crews on the way. It will probably be some time before we hear if they aren't letting anyone near the airport.

I hope no one was hurt.

Thanks, any idea whether it was intentional or an accident?

don't know yet. They went back to Frances coverage.

My father is flying today (not from LA) but I'm worried. If they are intentionally doing stuff at LA they could be doing stuff at other airports too. :(

Los Angeles airport shut down due to possible security breach

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles International Airport was shut down early Saturday because of a possible security breach and a separate incident at a security screening station in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, an airport spokesman said.

No information was immediately available on the incident at the international terminal, airport spokesman Harold Johnson said.

Terminals 6, 7, and 8 were shut down because of a possible security breach, he said. The terminals are connected.

Flights were not being allowed to depart, but inbound flights were being allowed to land, said Paul Turk, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. They were not being off-loaded at the terminals.

Traffic was being diverted from the airport.

Clear as mud ;) But it looks like two incidents - the international terminal is technically terminal 4.
