LAX hotel and car rental? From las vegas

If we left Disneyland late at night and drove to LAX so we would miss the AM traffic, where should we stay?

Budget does not allow pick up LAS drop off LAX. Dollar does.

Could we take the car to dollar rental say midnight? Get taxi to hotel. Then in AM take hotel to airport? We like embassy suites so far. Super early flight.

I see horror yelp threads about car rental starting at LAX, nothing about drop off. I normally book what I want at MCO with dollar, turn down all upgrade sells, we actually do the express checkin and off we go.

If not feasible where could we stay that we might be able to do this. And has anyone had an good experience with a rental car company to do this?

Just to be clear, you're planning to drive from Disneyland to LAX, drop off your rental car, then stay at a hotel near the airport and take a shuttle or taxi from the airport hotel to the airport?

To answer your first question, yes traffic is usually fine after 8 pm, although on Friday and Saturday nights there may be slightly more than the weekdays, probably wouldn't worry to much about it.

LAX is probably not so far from Disneyland where I would necessarily go through the trouble of switching hotels. Especially if your flight is super early, there won't be much traffic at 5 am. When is your flight exactly?

I've never rented a car there so I don't have any info on that.

I have no experience of driving in LA but I have for cities here in England, if I was you I would just do it all in 1 go before you fly, it would save you time in the long run and less hassle relocating, especially if it's that early in the morn!!

OK, yeah it shouldn't be a problem if that's what you want to do. Just make sure you choose a hotel with a good free 24 hour shuttle to and from LAX. You shouldn't need to call a taxi unless you don't want to wait for the hotel shuttle.

I'm not sure about dropping off your car at midnight though. I would imagine it's fine to drop off late at night but you might want to call and double check.

Edit: another thing to consider is that I think the rental car lots are off site. You may need to take the rental car shuttle to the airport and then take the hotel shuttle from there, but you should ask the hotel to see if they can pick you up directly from the rental car lot.

We used National when we rented a van last month. Drop off was much easier than pick up. It was 1pm and busy but it went very quickly. There were multiple lanes. We pulled up, someone ran to us, took the papers, checked to be sure gas was full and gave us a receipt. We waited about 10 minutes for the shuttle to leave for the airport. We flew SW so our gate was first.
Traffic from DL to LAX wasn't too bad for a late Saturday morning. But then again, we're used to Chicago traffic.
