You may indeed be right, the morning news said 8 to 10 passengers effected by the noro. They maybe hiding some.

I believe that is per day. 8-10 pax per day, so as I posted on the other thread around 70 with a 2-3 day incubation period if it wasn't already on the ship, and at 70 cases at worse was around 1.166666% of those aboard.
Just as we say dcl do not hide noro cases, or not report them, I think it is only right to not assume or accuse other lines of doing the same though.

I agree. Hiding to me is a relative term. I'm thinking more of the people who think its motion sickness instead of Noro. I'm relatively certain, all lines fudge the numbers. Ive seen DCL cruisers mention that HS blew them off, and there was more then a few guests on the same cruise that were quarantined due to noro or suspected of being noro.

Being afraid is not something a passenger would win a suit based on legal issues. The only way they may get a award is to shut down any bad press.

They ( Cruise Lines) can't have it both ways--either an over abundance of caution--or none at all.

Who do you want mad at you--passengers scared to death and taking horrible videos showing up on YouTube, CNN and MSNBC--or disgruntled passengers having their cruise re- routed or delayed?

They would be ignored by the media I think--

My point was that being afraid has no legal merit in Maritime law and the contract the passengers sign before each cruise.

As to whether its better to take a chance and sail or in a very abundance of caution not sail or return. Its a lose lose situation. The lines cannot keep losing millions in compensation. They can only remove the vessels from the routes/itineraries or raise the rates considerably higher.

The passengers are the loses in the end. SO.....when do they stop the compensation for unharmed wining passengers looking to make a fast buck?

And I'm betting the same! As they should.
I wouldn't dream (!!) of taking any cruise along the eastern seaboard in summer let alone January, February or March! Sometimes, you get caught..

Who else was on the Fantasy "Hurricane Sandy" Cruise? I was. We sailed through high wind and seas. . . we listed so much that every single item on our bureaus ended up on the cabin door. From our verandah door on floor 8, we looked down into the sea. Im not going to guess on angles but we literally had to hold our 2 yr old son in bed so he didnt roll off.

I never even thought I suing DCL. All we got was 25% off our next cruise (7 days or less)...

So tired of the lawsuit happy populous who sue at the drop of a hat. I guess thats the american way, right?

One old sailors trick to stay in your bunk during heavy weather, is to take 2 life-vests and slip one under the mattress on each side. This will lift the mattress and make a cradle type bed, keeping you in the bed.

It is--our court system not only allows it, it often encourages it!!

That may be coming faster then people think. This is not a line problem, this is a industry problem. The industry will to do something, band together, to fight the unmerited lawsuits. Or remove more routes/itineraries. Rates going up as well.

Of course I meant "hearing"!!

These lawsuits are so easy to file and virtually no review to even first see if they have any merit.

And if you lose it's an "oh well"--maybe if you lose and have to pay the other sides costs--that might lower the numbers of frivolous lawsuits.

But that will rarely if ever happen--
