Lawnmowers before 8 AM!

OK - so we're trying to sleep in this morning. But what awakens me at 7:15? A lawnmower AND leaf-blower! That's IT! I get in the car and drive 2 doors down - the yard guys are across the street a little ways and I tell them it's too early! They act like I'm the crazy one! The lawns are covered in ice! It's 30 degrees outside! Why is this OK? Am I really the crazy one? (We live just outside town limits & we have no CC&Rs, like lots of neighborhoods around here.)

That's just completely bizaare! Who the heck mows their lawn at the crack of dawn, let alone the frost??

My "incredibly annoying thing that wakes me up early on weekends" is church bells from the huge Catholic cathedral one block over. Try complaining about THAT to anyone and getting any sympathy. *sigh*

Side note - they were doing the bell routine in the middle of the night last night. I'm a total heathen and have no idea why on earth they would do so. Can anyone fill me in?

I can totally sympathize. My neighbor is a landscaper and is in love with his leaf blower. We hear that thing day and night. His team of guys came one morning at 7:30 am. That's ridiculous! My father had to go over and say something. But you know what, they still come early some mornings.

Amazing, though, since my neighbors had their baby 3 weeks ago, we haven't heard that blower once.

It's bizarre to have that happen so early with frost on the ground. In the summer, though, it's advisable to mow your lawn before it becomes hot enough to cause heatstroke......especially for older people.

I've got you beat. My wonderful neighbor puts her two big dogs outside at 6:20 am EVERY MORNING like clockwork. They begin barking as soon as she goes inside and continue barking for at least 10 minutes!

I really do love animals but there are times that I would love to find a good-sized rock and throw it (at her). What makes some people so self-absorbed that they don't even realize how annoying that can be? Not everyone has to get up at the crack of dawn to start their day!

Rumor has it that they are putting the house up for sale in the spring. Let's hope it sells quickly.

HHMM..I've mown my lawn at 7am, and as late as 9pm in the summer. but then again, people here can't really complain, since our noise ordinance is 11pm-6am. My neighbors do the same thing though, normally if I'm out early mowing, I wont be the only one. I also have a back yard neighbor who is obsessed with his wood tools, he's got a plainer, that I swear is on 24/7 in good weather...Doesnt' really bother me though, as there's been times when I've had our house stereo system cranked pretty loud, and we have speakers wired outside...never had any neighbor complain to me, and I've never complained about them.

Normally people that do stuff that early go to bed early.
If they don't want to cooperate try mowing your lawn and blowing your leaves....at 2 am

We don't have a noise ordinance from the city or anything, but the community we live in is deed restricted with all kinds of strict guidelines. Mowing (or using any other loud tool type item) before 8am is strictly not allowed!!

Brrrrr it's freezing, those guys are crazy!! I was thinking about calling to complain about the garbage truck this morning, why must they come at 6:30 in the morning. Isn't there some kind of noise ordinace? Yeesh.

I can understand the lawn mower, leaf blower, wood working tools, etc....but church bells? Wow!! That's kinda sad!!

In my town you can mow at 8am on weekdays and not until 9am on weekends...I had a neighbor who's landscapers would come at 8am on Saturdays and I did say something to the landscapers this past summer and now they don't come until after 9.

You're NOT the crazy one! Lawnmowers that early would tick me off, too. We have a problem like that with our next-door neighbors--they do nothing before midnight. They take out the garbage, wash the cars, fix the cars, etc...all after midnight! And they both work days! After living next to them for nearly ten years, the noise doesn't really bother me anymore--I just really WONDER about them!
