Lawn Care Help/Advice

I'll admit it...I'm a lawn care/gardening moron.

That said, our lawn is covered with dandelions, clover, and some purple flower-looking weeds.

What kind of dry weed eater (used in a walking spreader) would you recommend to get rid of this stuff?

(watering the lawn with a weed spray attachment is not an option due to where our water outputs are).

I wish I could help. I hire someone. I have a "black" thumb. I would head to Lowe's and ask someone there.

We're 45 minutes from a Lowe's, so we don't head there very often.

We have had lots of dandelions and clover, and Scott's makes stuff called Weed and Feed. It gets rid of those pretty well.

We also had the purple flower weed things one year and the ONLY thing that worked on them was a pre-emergent that we had to hire someone to do! You have to take care of those crazy purple flower weeds or they will take over your yard! That's the only thing I've ever seen kill Bermuda.

Good luck...tomorrow I am pulling all of our stubborn weeds that didn't die and the weeds in the beds by hand...weird, I know, but it's therapeutic for me :

It's what the lawn company called this green spray they put on your lawn before winter is over and the grass tarts coming out. I don't know exactly what it was. Sorry!

Get more hoses so you can spray your lawn or call a lawn company. We have one come out about 4 times/year. It is about $50/time. You really have to know what you are doing to put on the stuff yourself or you will burn out your lawn.

I agree with this. We tried to do it ourselves at our old house and never got rid of the weeds. Those creepers with the purple flowers are impossible to get rid of unless you pull them.

At this house we contracted with a dry application company and have a beautiful lawn. The cost is pretty comparable to do-it-yourself and you don't have to worry about storing the leftover (stinky) lawn products.

***Pre-emergent are weed killers that go on before the plant can sprout.
