Hi All - Has anyone heard about the new quick service restaurant at Aulani called the Lava Shack? I am planning a trip this September and I came across a description of the quick service offerings posted on the Aulani web site which appear to include cold fried chicken, cured meats and cheeses and chilled miso salmon. Does cold fried chicken sound appetizing to anyone?? I believe this restaurant / quick service eatery is still under construction am I wrong???
I would like to see a quick service grill serving hot chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, fries, salad and grilled chicken options similar to the ones seen on the cruises. Anyone out there with similar thoughts or comments?:confused3

Hello,
Lava Shack has been open since the beginning. It does have some things to eat, but it is mostly a snack shop with some pool attire etc. The quick service place they are building is, from what I hear, to contain hotdogs, sandwiches and other quick grabs like that.

Here is what I read about the new place:

Crews are hard at work on a brand-new addition to the food and beverage options at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai‘i.

Mama’s Snack Stop, a quick-service food location premiering this June right next to Pāpālua Shave Ice in the Waikolohe Valley, will serve mouthwatering hot dogs, chicken tenders and more. The menu includes a choice of bread, sauce, and type of sausage, including all-beef hot dog, Hawaiian Winner, or Portuguese sausage. Guests can also choose a buffalo ranch chicken tender dog, chicken tenders, fries, Maui Chips, a macadamia pineapple cupcake and fruit.

Construction on Mama’s Snack Stop may cause a bit of inconvenience, but this new location is a great example of how quickly the Aulani team listens and responds to the needs of guests looking for additional meal options at the resort. Mama’s Snack Stop will add to the magic of a Hawaiian vacation at Aulani.

As others have said Lava Shack currently exists. The cold food you are talking about is pre-packaged meals in a fridge with glass doors like you would find at a 7-Eleven. If you are really hungry you might buy it, but it just isn't appealing when you are looking for some hot quick service food, if you know what I mean.

The new quick service stand they are building sounds like a great idea! It is much needed there.
