Day Nine (Saturday) - MGM Studios and home
Me - Laur's - 27
DH - Andy - 27
Boo hoo, last day. We were up at 8.45 am this morning, slightly sleepy after our late night, but it wasn't enough to make us feel bad, luckily. We breakfasted in the room, froot loops and a croissant with maple syrup for me, and corn pops and a croissant with strawberry jam for Andy, and coffee and apple juice. We then finished the packing, had a last check of the room, and went down to store our luggage. There was a bit of a queue here, but it moved pretty quickly.
We took some pictures of the resort including this one of me with Mowgli and Baloo, so that I could prove to people just exactly how big these things really are!
We got the bus to MGM around 11 am. We went first to Muppet Vision 3D as we hadn't done it on this trip and I LOVE the muppets! (I was obsessed with Kermit the Frog as a child). My favourite line in the show is Sam Eagle's about his finale, "It's a tribute to all nations, but mostly America"!!! That cracks me up every time.
We next seek out Jessie. It's become a last day tradition for me to have my picture taken with Jessie. She is always so lovely and friendly, and I always get a big cuddle.
We have one final trip on Star Tours, and still don't make it to Endor, to my disappointment. They are doing Jedi training when we come out and we stop to watch this for a few minutes. Very cool and we wish we weren't too old for this!
We sadly wave goodbye to MGM, and make our way back to the bus. We used to always get our hands stamped on the last day so that we knew we would be coming back, but unfortunately this is no longer possible (grrrr, finger machines).
We get back to the Pop about 12.45 and pick up some lunch in the food court. We get a ham and cheese sandwich, a tuna salad, some cheetos, a banana, a twix and a diet coke to share. We linger over eating and go and collect our cases at 1.45 pm. The magical express picks us up on time at 2.15 pm but confuses us because it is a Disney cruise line bus. It's very comfortable though, and the driver is friendly and drops us off in the right place for Virgin check in.
We arrive at MCO about 3 pm, and rather appropriately, I thought, the rains starts very heavily. We are quickly checked in, and hover around smoking for a while, until we can't leave passport control any longer. There is an ugly looking queue, but we are still through in plenty of time. I have a horror moment when the boy in front of me throws his sweets all over the dirty carpet, then proceeds to pick them all up and eat them, without either of his parents batting an eyelid. I think that they must have had a long day.
We just have time to get some duty free, before it is time to start boarding at 5.25 pm. I can tell you very little about the flight home, as I slept for most of it! This was a first for me, so the late night at MK had definitely worked. I did have tea but don't remember what it was, and very sleepily watched Fun with Dick and Jane. This is nowhere near as bad as it sounds! It was quite funny, but the best bit was the Starbucks bit which was on all the trailers. I fell asleep after this to the soothing sound of Bob Marley and when Andy woke me up for breakfast, I couldn't believe my luck at sleeping that long. We had the usual obscure airplane breakfast of fruit salad and blueberry muffin, and land about an hour later.
Manchester is brighter than usual, so at least we have some sunshine to enjoy even though it's not exactly Florida temperatures!
Now all that remains is to start planning the next trip - just as soon as I can get my passporter out of the suitcase!
