Oh no, bummer! I am so sorry you got injured, but how fortunate that it's only a sprain! Does that mean Cori didn't get to see you skate? I really, really, really hope Arden B can work something out for you with that dress. Have you thought about seeing you can find the fabric and getting it made by a seamstress?

Yes it means that Cori didn't get to see me skate. I was so dissapointed when I realized that I wouldn't get to skate for her. I sent her a pm here as soon as I could to let her now what had happened, but I don't think she got it in time before she left. But at least she did get to see Adam skate as Ryan. That makes it a little better.

So right now, while everybody else is doing the show , I thought I'd listen to some songs that we could play during our wedding (and possibly the first dance).

These are some pictures of some cakes that I like for the reception

Here is a wedding cake.

If I were to use that one, I would make it red and gold (the gold being the accent color). We might also take the stars off that are stuck in with wire to the cake. I think it might be tacky to keep the wire in there. In the photo reel, in place of the "I Love Troy", we could put something like "Adam and Laura" or the Wedding date (which do you think would look better?), and then in place of the pictures of Troy, put in pictures of Adam and I. What do you think of this cake idea? If I were to use this one, how many people do you think it would feed (judging by the picture)? If I were to need a bigger cake, do you think it would be too difficult for a cake artist to make a bigger version of the cake?

Also... Remember the idea for his grooms cake that I had that both Adam and I loved? If you don't, or if you didn't read my other topic, here's a picture of it.

Anyway... I found a cake that might be an extremely close contender to it. It won't let me post pictures of it, but here is the link to the pictures of it. I really like it, but part of me thinks it might be a bit informal for a wedding, but then another part of me thinks that it would be perfect for a wedding because of all of the intricate detail that goes into it. Does that make sense? What do you think?

This question pertains to both cakes... With cake artists, if you were to bring in a picture of a cake, would they make that one, or do they normally only make the cakes that they have examples of in their shop? This next one might sound like a silly question, but remember, I am only 21 and am just starting to think about a cake, but.... Can you change the colors of a cake, or do they normally use the colors of the picture?

i have to say i love both cakes! the one you posted for the wedding cake i really think will be beautiful with the colors you choose and would be a great treat for your guests and deifantly original. i do think you shoule leave the stars ON. i think it makes the cake!!

The only thing that I could think of that might be a problem with the cake and the decoration (which we haven't decided on yet), is that it might clash a little bit. The different shades of blue from the Midsummer's Night Talent Show with the red and gold of the cake.

As a cake decorator myself...I can honestly say that it depends on the shop. Most do work with you to get the colors that you want and the style that you want. However, if the images or decorations that you want used on your cake are trademarked, they may not be able to do that. It just truly depends on where you go!

With that pink cake, I would say that they should be able to help customize it so that it matches your theme and colors. You could probably find those frames online somewhere...you would need to let the bakery know what you were planning so that they can make arrangements for proper sizing, etc...they would probably ask you to give them the finished frames (with all your pictures and stuff in them) so that they can set everything up when they deliver your cake to the reception location.

As far as the cake sizes and how many they will feed...the bakery that you choose should be able to help you with that. They have their formulas for how many servings they can get from all kinds of cake sizes. They will basically ask how many people will be at the wedding and take it from there. If you're having a lot of people, they may add extra tiers or make the tiers bigger to begin with. With the beach-y looking cake, they could easy do something similar, but make it on a larger scale if necessary.

You're going to want to do your research though on the different bakeries in your area to determine who can/will do what you're looking for! I worked for a place that didn't work much with fondant so they probably would not have done the cake with the figures on it...again, it all depends on the bakery!

I think the pink cake is great! Even if the cake doesn't feed everyone, you can always get sheet cakes (just keep them in the kitchen and they can cut it up in the back for you when they run out of the original). For our wedding, the sheet cakes weren't that expensive (they don't have a design on them, so no big deal b/c no one will see them). For the movie scrolls, I think you could alternate your names, date and maybe even I love Adam or I love Laura...I love those scrolls!!! The stars on wires might be a bit cheese, but I think I like them. On Ace of Cakes, they tend to put those on there and I think they're pretty cute

With the other cake that you put up a link to...it's cute, but I still the like the first one for a groom's cake. Just my vote!
