Laurs and Andys Halloween Happiness Trip Day 6

Monday 24 September 2007
After three attempts this morning, we finally got our wake up call from Simple Plan at 8.30 am and made our way to breakfast in the concierge room at 9.10 am. I had froot loops and melon, and Andy had rice krispies, toast and a croissant. We got ready and set off to walk to Universal at 10.30 am.
As we got to the park, we saw Bart and Lisa from the Simpsons posing for pictures but, unfortunately, they were going in so we only got to wave at them as they got in their car. We started off our tour of the park with Shrek 4D, Jimmy Neutron and T2:3D.
We went for lunch at Mels Drive In. We had not been here since our first visit as we were put off then by the lack of cleanliness and the average-at-best food. I am pleased to report that it was much better this year. We shared a double cheeseburger, fries and a fanta whilst listening to some great 50s music. I was dancing up and down for most of the time whilst we were eating, and Andy spotted some little ones smiling at my dancing.
After we finished lunch The Vinyls were starting their set, so we sat and watched them and I put on some more sun cream. It was super hot so very relaxing to sit and watch a band for a bit.
We went on ET next, and then for a spin on Men in Black. We had our picture with the Madagascar penguins and the Private tried to follow me out! They are so cute.
We went round to Earthquake next. We both love this ride but hate the pre-show. Imagine our delight then when we were allowed straight on to the ride woohoo! I dont know whether they are rehabbing, revamping or getting rid of the preshow, but we were very pleased all the same.
We did Jaws next with another funny skipper and then had our last rainbow dipping dots of the year. We watched the Blues Brothers drive round for their show and I was very pleased when Elwood waved at me. We went to watch the show (which had different performers than on Saturday) and I was pleased again when Jake pulled my hair when he was dancing around.
We took the opportunity to ride Earthquake again without the long wait and had one last ride on Jimmy Neutron.
We headed back to the hotel at 5.30 pm, calling into the concierge room for Bud Lites, cheese, crackers, crudites and dips. After we polished off the food we took our beers down to the hot tub and soaked for half an hour. I think this is the best way to finish off a theme park day.
We had showers, changed and went to the Hard Rock Café for tea at 8.20 pm. As we are now members, we got the first available table so didnt have to wait to be seated. I somehow allowed myself to be talked into the large version of the Bahama Mama (with free hurricane glass which didnt make it home due to lack of space) and Andy had the large Purple Haze. I had the huge cobb salad and Andy had BBQ ribs. Sadly the cocktail went straight to my head so I didnt enjoy the food all that much, but I do remember drumming a rousing rendition of Chelsea Dagger on the table.
We (well, OK, I) staggered out of the HRC and into the shop where I got some pins for my gigging jacket and then back to the hotel at 10.30 pm. We went to the bar so Andy could get a couple of beers to take back to the room. The fresh air hadnt sobered me up enough to want any more alcohol, so I picked up a Coke and a Sprite from the concierge room. We had our drinks and went to bed around 12.15 am.
