Laundry tabs (discontinued...now what?!)~update!

Those tabs were the best!!! We live in NJ and they haven't been around here for a while.

I did get info on this board this past summer. Target (sample isle) has small bottles of liquid Tide (I think it was tide). I found them at our local Target and they worked out just fine....$1.00 or so each.

I too use the Target travel Tide ($1) in ziplock bags. It's worked out well for me.

I posted the same thing earlier....but, no one seemed to jump on it. They are called "Ultra Plus", and they are "packets"....loose powder in a dissolveable membrane...they are essentially the same as tablets. They are an item that Sears seems to carry all the time. They work really well.

I checked my local Sears last night. All they had was the scoopable powders, not in the membrane. Has anyone else found these at Sears recently? :confused3 I would love to get some for this weekend. My daughter is playing in a soccer tournament, and I can't go with the family because of work. I would like to send a tablet or two with DH to was her uniform between games. The less I send with DH the better. :rotfl2:

Maybe a little pricey? I'm not near an expert.

I just used your link to buy a case of 96 tablets. I'm not sure it was any bargain at $48, including shipping. It comes to around .50 each.
I find them handy, not only at Disney, but wherever I travel. I might have extras if anyone needs them.

An update I got the tablets in the mail and they are the ones I used in Puerto Rico. They are very good for washing in the machines at the Disney as one tablet is fine for a medium size load. At home I throw in two for a large load but I am saving these for when I travel. Thank you Disney Bill for the heads up on these laundry tabs.Marylyn

Wow, glad they worked well for you!

I bought a small bottle of cold water Tide that was on special at Goodings in October. It was $3.49 or so for 20 loads. I just left it for the housekeeper when we left. From now on I plan to just buy the smallest bottle or box that is on sale.

The tabs were convenient but I'm not paying $1.00 or even 50 cents per load.

Walgreen's on Apoka-Vineland North of WDW also sells the individual bottles but for $.99. Again no sell for me. :confused3

Montana Disney Fan....you crack me up! Just goes to show you that you CAN buy anything on e-bay! Laundry tablets, who'd a thunk it! :rotfl2:

Oh, good research Beca. :cool1:

BTW, my detergent wasn't from Goodings. I don't know why I typed that! It would probably have been $18 at Goodings! It was from Winn Dixie. :sunny:

Actually though, Goodings is good for fruit and if I ever buy meat, it looks better there than at WD.

Okay, I did some research, since my Sears idea no longer works (I can't believe they stopped making tabs!!).

Here's a couple of options:

1) This company makes tabs. They have received wonderful reviews (even from one diser). They are about $36 for 96 tabs (each load takes one tab).
http://www.quixtar.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=100297

2) This company sells travel size products. You can get three packets of detergent for $1.19.

I bought the tabs and I plan to use them this week at my Old Key West 2 bedroom. I really forgot about them until last night when I was rummaging around in my basement looking for cat food. I couldn't figure out what was in that big box. I ordered them from Quixtar when this thread began and when they arrived my husband put them downstairs and I forgot all about them. They will sure be an improvement over the liquid detergent I was carrying back and forth to WDW in an old shampoo bottle :rotfl: .

Isn't Quixtar the old Amway corp? SA8 used to be an Amway brand. No wonder they are so expensive.

Not sure if this has been "typed' about yet?
I was just at Sears and they sell a container full
of laundry soap, that is all pre-wrapped in little
single load bags, it would be perfect for vacations
at Disney, and the packs would be easy to transport.

Hope this helps!

Yes it was. Amway still exists in certain countries. Quixtar has the same products but is an internet based model that operates differently than Amway did. Of course, if you are just buying products, then none of that would really matter to you as most of the business changes have been with the internals on how things are run. THe biggest from a consumer level is the ability to order MANY different products from a web portal.... They are affiliated with 100's of other websites as well as selling their own stuff.

BTW, SA8 is actually a better value than tide on a per load basis. It is more money per box, but you get more loads per box. However, the tabs are higher costing for convenience obviously.... THey work pretty well though. I loved having them for my two months of road trips for work this summer 9000 miles in 2 months.

hi
do any of you know anyone from the u.k.. we could bring them over for you!!
i did see some at walmart on us 27, cagans crossing, a walmart frequented bi us britts! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

After reading this thread, I headed to sears to get a bucket of the great travel tabs and I was told that they are discontinued and that they clearanced them a month ago for 3 dollars a bucket!!!! What rotten luck. Then I went to ebay and found that some of the restaurant supply ebay stores sell the little vending machine boxes by the case. The cheapest that I saw was 27.60 a case for 100 boxes plus shipping. The most expensive was around 60 dollars for 120. I don't have space to store that many but the cheaper ones really seemed like a good deal to me. Just a heads up to those out looking...

If you're talking about the little Tide boxes, etc that's a good deal. The cheapest I have seen them sell for in a hotel is $0.50 and I believe that Disney sells them for $1.

I still go the powder in a ziplock route, but was actually looking at that box of Persil tabs again the other day.....

I would like to know why the laundry tablets have been banned, we have thousands of brands of laundry tablets here in the UK, we also have liquid tablets too which are fab.

I'm down to my last 6 Purex tablets, so that should suffice for my February trip, but that's it!

I, too, am very curious as to why they banned them. They were super convenient.

I have some. PM if you are interested. I only want to get back what I paid for them plus postage of course.

Just got back from BWV - and I bought the "sample" size of Tide liquid before I left at Target. It does 4 loads and was $.99. Put it in a ziplock bag in my luggage along with some bounce. Travelled fine on the plane.
