Laundry room upgrades

I was surprised to read the following on AllEars:
"-- The public laundry rooms at most Disney Vacation Club resorts are scheduled to receive high-tech makeovers. New equipment currently being installed will complete laundry in a shorter time and offer a number of other technological advances to aid in the laundry management process. Before even visiting the laundry room, guests will be able to visit a mobile website to determine the current availability status of machines. The website will display how many machines are currently available for use, as well as the time remaining for machines running another guest's laundry. When using the machiness, guests can set-up text message alerts to notify them when their cycles are complete. Additionally machines in need of repairs will send their own maintenance alerts to accelerate response time by resort staff. The machines are presently being installed in all Disney Vacation Club resorts at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Machine usage is complimentary to DVC members. A single-load box of laundry detergent is typically provided to guests upon arrival with additional supplies available for purchase."

So cool! I had a blast seeing what laundry rooms were being used and I wasn't even @ WDW at the time!

Oops. Guess I wasn't paying attention. We never use the laundry but I think the ability to monitor machines online is terrific!

I agree Jean it will be great to be able to monitor the machines when we stay in studios ~ I liked to do the wash at night when staying at SSR it would have been great to know if the machines were open before I headed out in the dark.

How are the laundry rooms free for members? Going in January and will need to use it. Membership card or tokens?

Some of the laundry rooms will require your MB to open but there's nothing else to it. And some don't have locks.

We used the laundry room at SSR this past May. It was awesome! Took the laundry over. Read all the instructions about the machines and downloaded the app. We then had dinner at Artist's Palette. I got a text that my wash was ready for the dryer! So cool. Put the clothes in the dryer and after dessert I was folding! This is a very cool upgrade...

I used the member laundry room at AKV-Jambo (5th floor) and they had the new machines, but the app only recognizes the main laundry room so I could not take advantage of it. Bummer!

The DVC laundry room on the 5th floor of Jambo House is recognized by the LaundryView app. However, it is listed under "Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village." Under that listing are links to 'Jambo House Villas' and 'Kidani Village Villas.'

Used new website for BLT laundry room in May-didn't download the app just refreshed the website every so often to track the progress of my laundry
And to answer a previous poster door was locked there had to use magic band to open door

Do the door entries know if you are a DVC member or just staying in a DVC room? I am renting points and wonder if I am allowed to use the laundry rooms. Thanks!

You are allowed to use laundry rooms.
