Laundry??? Really?

Ok, how's this for being a loser...I do laundry, bring home clean clothes, and then wash them all again after coming home!!
:confused3

We always stay 9 nights. So, on Thursdays is our rest and do whatever you like day. My dd loves the pool so while she is swimming, I do some laundry. I go ahead a put the clean clothes back into our suitcase so when we get back home I don't have as much laundry to do before going back to work on Tues. Last yr., was the 1st time I tried this and it worked out great!

No!

NO!

NO!

I'm with you 100% Wendi200 (and it looks like I'm the only one). I will not do laundry on my vacation, nor would I expect my wife to do it. Because we're on vacation! If I can't bring enough clothes; if things get stained or dirty, isn't that what that plastic bag hanging in the closet is for? Yeah, its ridiculously expensive to let them do your laundry for you, but I don't take very many vacations, so when I do, I don't do laundry. Its not like I have money to burn - I'll stop for a case of water and some snacks and a sixpack, I'm too cheap to pay disney money for those things. But laundry? Its not about the money.

Eddited to add that my children are still young and I haven't taken a long vacation with them yet; only short ones. So I suppose my attitude could change. Lord knows everything else has changed, thats what kids are all about. But I'll fight this one as long as I can.

10 days + 4 kids= laundry! I try not to do it....but I know I will probably have to. In the heat of the summer- swimming then shower and dress for dinner. That is at least 120 pairs of underwear and the same on shorts.even more on tees..I don't think we could carry it all. :rotfl2:

I try not to. Our last trip was short - 3 nights, 4 days. I didn't do laundry but for 4 people (including one toddler) we had 4 checked bags, 4 carry ons (including diaper bag and laptop), a car seat and a stroller. That's a lot of crap! Now DS is potty training - started this past weekend. Well, just today I had to take 5 pairs of underwear and 5 outfits to daycare for him (Pull-up are too much like diapers and not working). We are doing an additional night in September. Considering what we took last time (and used almost all of it) and all the "just in case" outfits DS will require, I think I may have to do laundry. I just cannot add another checked bag - its too much. I don't want to do laundry but I may have no choice since I won't send DS's soiled clothes out to be laundered. As his mother I have to touch his messy underpants, but nobody else should have to! Plus, I can't imagine traveling home with such a mess, in ziploc bags or not.

We only go for a week and I always end up doing laundry once. It's better than packing alot more clothes, and when you go in summer, you know you're going to get drenched everyday, so you go through clothes quickly. ;)

I do laundry during pool time. It almost makes it painless.

Besides, I've met some interesting people in the laundry room. :teeth:

I didn't think I would want to be bothered with it myself, but I brought along a pack of quarters and sample size detergent JIC. I did wind up washing two loads on our last night there while we swam in one of the quiet pools at POR (the laundry room was right there by the pool). It was really nice to have one less thing to worry about when we got home and the "after Disney" blues hit!

I go for 14 days amd always do laundry at least once. WHY....I do NOT own 14-15 changes of clothing, especially socks and other articles of underwear. Do most people??? Or, are you just staying for alot less time? Just curious as alot are saying that they don't/won't do laundry. Plus, it is so humid at WDW and I don't like putting the same clothes back on for another day. Sometimes, I even come back to the room for an afternoon rest and change to a difference set of clothing---it refreshes me.

Since we started timesharing, we do laundry on vacation all of the time. We have packing light down to 3 outfits each plus the one on our bodies. I throw a load in during breakfast and a load or two in the evenings. I actually find it much less stressfull than packing alot of stuff.

Also, a major stress item for me at home is laundry, not actually doing it, but the folding, sorting and putting away. We have baskets of laundry all over the place and let's not get into the sock factor. I have also decided to stop saving clothes and have been proactively donating in order to clear out these basket.

While on vacation, I don't have to sort and put away because our clothes are either on us, or in the washer or the dryer.

Last time my mom joined us she had 3 suitcases to our 3 suitcases (a family of 5).

I do laundry evertime we go on vacation. I don't like to bring it home and then have to do it. (although cheaper!)

We usually go for no less than 8 days. We usually bring about 5 pairs of clothes each, and then wash. It makes for a lighter load and it is no big deal.

I don't usually like to do laundry, but if I travel for more than 10 or 12 days, I most often will do a load or two. I hate putting sweaty, smelly things back in my suitcase, too.

Truthfully, I have it down to a science. I bring a book or novel, my cell so I can make some calls, I'll often get a nice cool drink and just hover around until it's done. If there are lounges or something nearby where I can clearly see the door of the laundry facility, it's ideal! I'll do it on a "pool" night or during an afternoon break white getting ready for dinner.

I do usually bring "Woolite" and hand wash my bathing suits in the sink and leave them in the shower to dry. I hate when an expensive bathing suit will start to look faded and worn from chlorine.

Remember a few years ago when several detergents made individually wrapped disks? They were so great to pop in a suitcase when traveling. I can't find them anymore so I bought All in the small bottle that is 3X concentrated. I would rather use Tide though. Anyone found a better product for travel?

Most of the laundry soap websites have a link where you can send for a free sample. That's what I brought last year. Softener too :)

I guess I am one of the few "freaks" as my family would call it that does not do laundry on vacation (except in an extreme emergency). I am not comfortable using a machine that a huge population has used to wash their dirty clothes! Also when I get home everyone empties their clothes out of the suitcase into the laundry room, dirty or clean, and I wash everything. I don't like that hotel smell on them and just in case any "little friends" traveled home with us. just call my crazy!

I come accross so many posts on this board that invarably turn into threads about doing laundry. I have never even considered doing laundry while on vacation. Do that many people really do laundry at their hotels??? Is it just a strange DIS phenomenon, or does this happen everywhere? :lmao: I don't think I can be converted... I'd have to be gone a month before I'd think about doing laundry on a trip. So, what about you?

Maybe I should've made this a poll... :rolleyes1

Yep, I've done laundry at Disney! Unfortunately, while staying at FW Campground we had a down pour of rain. So much so that the water level was over top the seat of 10 speed bicycles! Needless to say everything in our tent was drenched from our tent floating on top of the water. We ended up moving to All Star Music and while there I did all of our laundry so our clothes wouldn't mildew. It was nice having the laundry facilities by the pool so the kids could swim while I did laundry.

Even though DH swears I am an overpacker (11 suitcases and 4 carry ons last trip) I still have to do laundry. We'll be at DIsney for 11 nights and Universal for 4 nights/5 days. I pack each child 14 outfits! Since we go in July we inevitably dress in the am, come back for a swim/nap, shower and change into a second outfit. So buy the end of the first week I need to do laundry! For a two week trip I usually do laundry twice and send out clothes to be cleaned about four times.

You're not a freak. I know what you're saying and I have to try hard not to think about it. I've been cautious ever since I watched a family come into the CR laundry room and throw their rain soaked tennis shoes in a dryer. If I dont' see clean clothes coming out of the dryer I'm going to use, I wipe it out. Also, there is a product you can add with your wash that kills germs and bacteria - and it's not bleach :) . It's made for folks who use public laundries. I don't recall the name, but I'll see if I can find it.

We did laundry on our last trip for the first time. From the day we left until we arrived home we were gone 11 days. We had to do laundry, no choice. THis trip, we will probably do a couple loads. We tend to travel in an off season so the kids have only a few t-shirts and shorts that fit.

Last year, I did laundry a couple days before we left...I had thrown all of the dirty clothes in a corner of our room at ASMo, and I washed because it started to smell musty. :crazy2: When I gathered it up to take to the laundry room, I noticed that one of DD's shirts had mold and mildew growing on one of the shirt sleeves. :guilty: I was not happy and learned my lesson. This year I will be doing a load of laundry every third day and keeping dirty clothes in their own drawer in a dresser.
