We are doing a couple of days at the parks prior to embarking. Will be traveling with 3 grandsons, and 4 adults. If we packed carryons to hold a load or two of dirty laundry…can laundry be started as soon as we are able to go to our rooms?

Have you considered doing laundry at the resort instead? The washers and dryers at the resorts are larger and easier IMO to use.

Good things to consider. But…our 2 year old grandson will probably need a nap after we get on the ship, and once we are free to be in our rooms. The laundry area is right down the hall from our rooms. So, keeping an eye on laundry and a sleeping baby, seems like an easy multi-tasking opportunity!

Something to keep in mind is if the laundry is in your checked luggage, it might not be delivered until 8pm. We have had deliveries as late as midnight (the bag went missing). It is not unusual for bags to not be there until after Muster Drill at 4pm and commonly after first seating dinner. I would not plan on a checked bag being there before Muster.

Definitely the plan for that would be put that in the carryons!

Sounds easy... but how active is the 2-yr-old and would he be upset if you were down the hall when he wakes in a strange place alone? Will he nap in a pack-n-play or on the bed? Those are things I would consider; there is plenty of time to get laundry done with 4 adults, I would not leave a sleeping 2-yr-old completely unattended that first afternoon even to go down the hall.

Leaving a baby/toddler alone on a room alone seems cursed at so many levels. What if you forget your key? what if your door stops working? what if you stateroom host find out? what if times flies by and you miss disembarkation with so much fun at the laundry?

It doesn't take four adults to do a load or two of laundry. One could be a designated baby sitter, especially the first night after the ship's entertainment and the kids are asleep. The adults could even take turns. Or better yet, since you'll only be in the parks for two days, pack enough clothes for the whole trip or send them out to be washed by the ship's laundry. it's really not that expensive. (Can you tell I'm allergic to doing laundry on vacation?)

I was hoping laundry could get started before we have the muster drill. Figuring my daughter/son-in-law take the 4 and 6 year old to register at the kids clubs, leaves my DH and me to handle a load or 2 of laundry. As long as the dirty laundry is in our carryons,
