I realized today that we obviously would not have a w/d at DLH which we are totally spoiled by at the DVC resorts, and I need one on a 6 day trip with 2 little ones who create a lot of dirty laundry! So...can you please tell me about laundry facilities at DLH? Are they only in one tower because if so I would like to request to be in that tower. Any other info would be appreciated. TIA!

down by the area that has two pools and the workout room is a laundry room. . . I've never used it, but I do know it is there. .

It is there but its pathetically small. I think there are something like two washers and dryers. It backs up but if you go very early in the morning you can generally get one. Unfortunately the onsite hotels at Disneyland don't have the nice laundry rooms the WDW ones do. The GCH is the best but even it is pretty small for a hotel that size.

Thank you, at least if they have them and I can run one or two loads through instead of bringing so many clothes that would be easier!

I agree with the "pathetically small" comment. ;)

There were more dryers than washers which I thought was odd, but I guess it takes longer to dry. :confused3

At any rate we had a couple loads to do one morning and while I was planning to run over when I got out of the shower, for some reason DH decided to go over while I was in the shower. Luckily he did becasue this was early(like 6:30, maybe) and there was already a line. He waited and more people were coming along. Everyone was very grumpy about this. We managed to trade off enough between us to get what we needed done but we did leave 1 load drying while we went to breakfast. 1 woman had to send her DH and kids off to the character breakfast without her. :(

You're right, it is a very small cramped room, only room for one 'butt' at a time. :lmao: It's in sort of an 'L' shape (with the short leg of the 'L' near the entrance), so someone could be dealing with the washer(s) and another in the entrance loading/unloading a dryer.

I checked back a couple times during our stay, and lucked into a quiet afternoon there while DH and the kids napped. Some ladies were just finishing up their stuff, so I dashed back to our room and grabbed our laundry. The drying cycles seemed to take forever, not sure why, so I wound up being there for a long time, even though I got 3 loads washing at once, then drying simultaneously.

The laundry is not where I wanted to spend the afternoon (especially when it was hot out!), but it has a bench outside, so I just brought a paperback book and a cold drink with me and read while I waited.

I thought the laundry detergent and dryer sheet were way overpriced, so next time I'll bring little ziploc bags (pre-measured) from home. I'm not sure I'm remembering right, but I think the soap was $2/load, and the dryer sheet was $1 or $1.50.

I went in the late morning and it wasn't crowded. I think most people had gone to the parks at that time. I agree that you should bring your own detergent in a bag. That's what we did to save $$$. I also brought a book and sat nearby to read. Not what I wanted to do at DL, but we were there for 8 days during DD's dance competition and our extra days of fun.
