How much does it cost to do laundry? Are the machines near the cabins' pool? Thanks for your help! :mickeybar <We'll need to wash chocolate off our clothing!

ok - going to try my best to recall the cost......

the laundry rooms in the camping section (not cabins) is in the same building as the bathroom/showers. not near the pool. i think the laundry was about $2 per load and the dryers took about $2 per load to dry all the way.

not sure about where the laundry rooms are in the sections with the cabins.

anyone else want to chime in here.....

The laundry for the cabins is at the comfort station by the cabin pool. :flower:

I did not have a good experience with the laundry at FW. I did not overstuff the washer but the soap did not wash out well. My darks had spots. After putting in the $2 in one dryer...it would not work. It took alot of $$ to dry. That is my only complaint about FW. If it is going to cost so much to do laundry, at least have good machines!

I like the machines at Ft. Wilderness!! Especially the dryers. The wash is $2.00 per load. I bring liquid detergent with me. You could avoid the disolving part on your powder by starting the washer, putting in the powder, and letting it fill partway, then adding your clothes.

For the dryers, it takes me about $1.25 to dry a load. (But it is just one, maybe two days clothes for one person for me.) (I wash every night or every other night while in the shower) The thing I like about Ft. Wilderness dryers is you can add 25 cents at a time.

At the All-Stars, the dryers are $2.00 just to turn them on. So if $2.00 doesn't dry your stuff all the way, you have to add a full $2.00 again even for a few minutes.

Thanks everyone for your help! We just finished counting our "piggy bank" change. DW made sure she set aside enough quarters for the laundry. Bless her - she even does laundry on vacation!

Make sure that you do have enough quarters. One morning I got up real early specifically to do laundry but needed quarters. The machines at the laundry were out of quarters and the store near the marina (which was closest to our loop) was not open. Then I had to go all the way to the settlement depot. So much for getting up early, should have plannned better the night before. So have quarters because the laundry is open 24 hours.

We stay for about 2 weeks which makes a lot of laundry for my husband and me. I usually wash every four or five days and wash 3 loads at a time (at $2.00 per washing machine). Since most of the dryers at FW are the larger ones, I combine those 3 loads into 2 dryers ($3.00 per dryer). Washing at FW certainly mounts up. I could save a good bit of money by going off site but it's not worth it. I'll pay Disney prices. :-)
