I noticed a thread over on the budget board where a poster mentioned that the washers & dryers are free (no hauling around quarters) for DVC members in studios. Maybe for all guests staying at the resort in studios?

Any truth here???:scratchin

Yes, this is true, as long as you are STAYING at the "VILLAS". This is already paid for by DVC Member Dues already. As this is a service that members PAY for through our rather expensive dues (comparatively to other timeshares), we'd all appreciate it if all respected that someone IS paying for it (DVC members), and not use it unless you are actually staying at a DVC site and paying for your room (either with points or cash)!

Thanks, and have a great first trip!

Dearest lurontravel,
Thank you for your gracious reply.
:earseek:

Sorry I didn't mention that we ARE members of DVC looking forward to our first visit home.

Didn't mean to get you all riled up.:love2: xoxoxoxoxo!!!

bring your own detergent - I like the tablets (wisk and tide both do them) - softenor - WDW really costs alot of these....

the washing machine may look like it takes coins - just don't put any it - it will probably take them - but they aren't necessary.

One time at OKW - this man had left the laundry room mad - there are two washers so I took one - when he got back I showed him how to use the other one - he had gone to his room to get coins....he though the machine had to them just because it had the coin taker.

Just a thought - now that word of this is out, should DVC put some kind of pass-key lock on the door to the laundry room so non-DVC hotel guests don't have access to the "free" laundry?

On our last trip to BCV, a CM stopped in the laundry and checked on room keys to see that people using the machines were staying at BCV. Everyone was, so I don't know what they would do if you were not staying?

the bc has the paid washer/dryer in their laundry room - so I am sure that the non-bcv guest would be shown where that is....

I tried not to come off as snotty, whether or not you were a DVC member. I apologize if some took it that way. I guess I am a bit protective of our privileges since we are paying for them, and it sure would stink to go do laundry (while staying at the villas I'm often in a studio), and have everyone else doing their laundry for free on our dime, having no washers left for those who've paid for the privilege!!!

sheryl0521, I like your idea of putting a lock on it that you can access it with a room key (like the ones they put on the entrances to the outside for the late nighters).

Anyway, welcome home again, enjoy your first trip!:love2:

I"ve also seen the room key thing for the ice machines at several hotels.
I just hope that if they go to this system of requiring room keys, that they let us know beforehand, maybe put it in "Vacation Magic" or something. Otherwise I know that if I went all the way up to the 4th floor with my laundry, leaving the rest of my family, thus also my room key back on the 1st floor, only to find when I got there that I needed my room key, I'd be pretty upset !
