We leave for WDW in just 9 days:woohoo: and I don't want to over pack!! Last year I packed wwaaayy to much stuff so I was thinking maybe I would do laundry on our "off" day:laundy: . I know, laundry on vacation:rolleyes: but really if it would help keep our luggage count down I wouldn't mind. So if anyone could, please tell me your experiences with the laundry facilities like what is the best time to do laundry, is it hard to get a washer etc... We are staying at Sports but any info is greatly appreciated.:thanks:

We do laundry at WDW and the facilities are nice and clean! You can buy travel sized Tide at Target and bring your own dryer sheets from home. I pack quarters in a 35 mm film canister, which saves me from getting change at WDW.

The dryers are rather weak, so you might want to either plan on using 2 dryers for your load OR feeding it extra quarters if your stuff isn't dry on the first cycle.

The laundry rooms are near the pools, so you can relax poolside while doing :laundy:

I always do laundry at WDW. I usually do laundry in early evening or early morning although the evening is usually better. The laundry rooms are clean and easy to find at most resorts. I bring detergent from home and have quarters ready. Bring a book and I am all ready to relax while the laundry is going.

Thanks everyone for the info. Those are really good ideas:idea: . Now I'm adding quarters to my packing list:thumbsup2.

I usually pack about 3 premeasured detergent loads in ziploc bags and bring 4 or 5 dryer sheets.

Last month I did laundry at ASMu around 3 pm and I was the only one there, all the washers and driers were empty. Dd was asleep in her stroller, so I went back to the room for a nap and about an hour later, with Dd still asleep went to put everything in the dryer.

There is a sign there that states how much time do the machines take for each cycle.

Thanks nopdwife!

We're going in August so I thought I'd do a wash while we took our afternoon break by the pool. :laundy:
Hubby and grandparents can watch the kids while I over-analysis our touring plan :scratchin

I also do laundry there
so easy and never had an issue
the WL laundry room is TOO SMALL for that resort

We stayed at Pop for 10 nights in December - family of 4 (2 boys 8 & 11). We also packed a lot, but not nearly enough to get us through the trip. The weather ended up being warmer than we'd expected so all the long-sleeved stuff sat unused and the t-shirts were used up within a few days.

I did laundry late one night - started around 9:30 p.m. and didn't return to the room until almost midnight. I was prepared with detergent and quarters. The laundry room was crowded. I was able to get the last 2 washers. Had to start by putting everything in two dryers when I really needed three. Finally another dryer opened up so I could spread out the loads and get it dry faster.

The moral of the story is - I don't want to do laundry at WDW again! Next time, we'll pack 3 or 4 outfits each and get a villa at WL or OKW with a washer/dryer. Yes, it will cost more, but I'm willing to cut two days off the trip, forego the rental car and ride the buses and nix the Dining Plan. I would rather economize in other areas than spend 2 1/2 hours in the laundry room again. But, that's just me!!!!;)

One of my girls is an early riser. So when she wakes up I usually take her down to the pool which has been right next to the laundry from my experience. I put the laundry in and take a swim with her while it is in the washer. Once it hits the dryer, we go back to the room and get the family ready for the day.

I have only found evenings to be busy at the laundry. But I don't think they ever lock them. So if you have a family member with strange sleep patterns, 3rd shifter right here, send them.

I am going to make a pledge not to over pack this time. I always end up wearing the same three outfits over and over anyways.
