I know that there are machines available for guests at the Villas, but does anyone know if there is a charge for doing laundry. Just trying to figure out if I need to stock up on quarters. TIA.

Nope, no charge. but they do charge for detergent.

go back some of those tablets (wisk and tide have them) - and bring so fabric softner.

these are on the first floor - over behind the elevators - at the elevators go to your left (no choice really) down the hall - it is the first door on the right you can open - this is also the vendor machine -

The machines have the coin slots but just push them without any coins and they start right up. There is a front load and a top load washer and 6 dryers. Tha washers have timers and are quite accurate. If the dryers are empty I usually use 2-3 at a time and the load is done in 15 minutes. They come in real handy and we try to use them at park peak times as sometimes at off hours it's hard to get a free one.
I second the tablets they work great and pack even better. At a buck per box/load it is worth it. I throw a few dryer sheets in a baggie too. I like my bleach at home but find the tide with hot water is fine for my whites. The washers do not have water levels so I usually wash my towels on whites day as we usually just have a few pieces. It cuts down on our dues too as we usually decline trash and towel day if ours are already clean.

We did laundry twice while we were there and found that either first thing in the morning or late at night is the best time. There is only two washer and 4 dryers, so if they are occupied then you'll have to wait. One of the night when I went to do laundry one of the washer were down and the other was being used. I called housekeeping and they set me up to use the ones in the lodge due to this. I thought this was great. The second time we did laundry we had no problem with the washer being out of order.

So the laundry room is on the first floor and not the fourth? I thought I had read it was on the fourth, maybe that is at the BCV. Anyhow, how do the dryers work? When we stayed at BWV the dryers worked very poor and then at the main lodge at WL the dryers also worked poor. When we stayed at the BCV in a 2 BR our dryer worked wonderful. Just wondering for our next trip. Thanks.:D

Don't you have a 'laundry fairy'?
All I do is step out of my stuff, and it is not there when I wake up. At some point in the future, it re-cycles itself to a clean state in my drawer.

My wife always yells at me, and says I make the 'laundry fairy' work too hard... :teeth:

Thanks for all the responses. Not that doing laundry at WDW is high on the list (I'd rather be at the parks), it's nice to know for an emergency.

Maistre Gracey - at my house we call it the magic washer/dryer --somehow the dirty clothes get washed, dried, folded and return to their righful places all by magic---kind of like disney magic but at home.

Explain - do you mean that one cycle did not dry your clothes and you had to restart the dryer - or something else

I leave the clothes (they generally take around 30 minutes for a complete cycle in the dryer - the wash is 35 minutes - 20 minutes til you add the softner) and go swim - unless we are leaving then I come check every 10 minutes (silly....) this is possible at VWL - because the laundry room is not far from the pool - even closer to the gym - so sometime I go exercise.

at OKW the laundry rooms are at the pools.

I haven't had a drying problem at any of the bigger dryers that are used for the studios.

the washer and dryer are much bigger than what is in the room - so if you have something that won't fit in the room - just go find the laundry room.
