Wow, Launch Bay was a real disappointment. All of the movie props (except the pod racer) are fake! Why can't Disney obtain real movie props? Why didn't they theme the area better with Star Wars visuals and music. I enjoyed the movie, so it was not a total flop.

Is Launch Bay only temporary until the build something better? It looks that way.

It's a pretty good area and it doesn't look to be temporary at all. It seems there to stay.

I thought the behind the scenes movie clip was the weakest part

I disagree - loved it. I would assume most props are still being used in production at this point (or at least being held to possibly use). The meet and greets were wonderful. The movie was nothing spectacular but for a short 10 minute introduction it was very nice. I think it did exactly what it set out to do.

I have to agree with you, this was my family's opinion as well. Like a big hyped up "commercial" made into an experience. But we're also not big character people.

It would be great if they put the artist renderings and maquettes of what SWLand will be, like in One Man's Dream.
Launch Bay is not meant to be permanent, it will likely go away when SWLand opens, so in the next 5 years

Did you do any characters meets? Trade with Jawas?

I forgot about the Jawas. They did add authenticity to the experience. We did not do the meet and greets as they were 35 minute waits.

I couldn't disagree more. We spent about 20 minutes there but I could have stayed for much longer.

Real movie prop or not, I've always been obsessed with Star Wars and never had anything but the small area by Star Tours to see in person. I'll take this with no complaints.

It's "temporary" in that it will likely go away when Star Wars land opens. That's gonna be quite a while now, so the Launch Bay should be around for many years. I have not been down since they opened it.

My 7YO, who is the self-proclaimed "biggest Star Wars nerd in the room," is really looking forward to this. It's like a museum, only with stuff he really wants to look at. This and the Star Wars theme fireworks are the main reason we are not skiping DHS this trip. I'm not sure that's saying a lot for the park!

Launch Bay was a huge hit with DS(4) in December. He was speechless when meeting Darth Vader, and thrilled to see Storm Troopers walking around outside. He had ZERO interest in seeing the Disney Jr characters once he saw all the Star Wars stuff. Granted, I'm not the biggest fan, but I liked it too. I think it's worthwhile to visit and look around, at least until the rest of the Star Wars stuff is built.

Trading with Jawas was an AMAZING experience! I didn't see the value of their crumpled paper for my sunglasses however  meet greets were awe inspiring. Chewie knew I was scared of him (he was so tall...) and just played it up. To be in the presence of Darth Vader was :hyper:. I CANNOT WAIT to meet Kylo Ren.:jumping1: (Huge crush there :rotfl2:)
To each their own. We LOVED it!

The Launch Bay is bound to be temporary. A fill in till the Star Wars Land is done

Not sure what your idea of many is but Star Wars Land isn't that far away. Just a couple I believe.

We love the trading with the Jawa's part most of all. DGD has a little bag with a Jawa appliquéd on it and it's always a huge hit. Last week one of the Jawa's tried to trade for the bag. When that didn't work they tried to trade for DGD. He started to pet her and took her off to a corner and tried to hide her. Everyone had a blast. The waits for both characters were quite short. Kylo was ok but I really liked Darth better

The one thing I would like to see changed is more merchandise that was in Walt's Groto brought over there.

The storm troopers in the courtyard were cool. It built excitement as you walked up to Launch Bay. I just can't get over the "museum" part with all fake stuff.

I'm glad many posters liked Launch Bay. In the end, I think the entire Star Wars experience at Hollywood Studios will be incredible.

I'm still excited for it. A lot of museums (even some of the best) have replicas and recreations. There are only so many dinosaure bones and antiques to go around. With SW this isn't the only exhibt and a lot of stuff is in private collections, other traveling exhibits, and not even available for viewing since they are currently filming.

Once upon a time, there was a "making movies exhibit" was at the Science Museum in Chicago. Included was "The Making of Star Wars". There were some actual models and props from the first 3 films were on display. It was pretty fascinating what they were able to accomplish with low tech. My kids were in awe. Oddly, we were on our way to Orlando and this was a stop along the way.
