Latest time to sign up for Jedi training?

We are having breakfast at 8:15 at 1900 Park Fare (staying at GF) and then going to HS. Is it still possible to get a reservation for it? What's the latest you have gotten there and been successful? (there's no FP+ for this right?)

No FP.

You will be very lucky if you can still get spot.
But, you can certainly try.

I'd not even mention the possibility to your little Padawan until after you know
if you can get a JTA spot.

In fact, if JTA is a priority, I'd absolutely dump the 1900 Park Fare breakfast, and instead, head to rope drop at DHS.
Book a different meal that doesn't conflict.
(Heck, you can "eat" anytime.) ;)

I have a JTA question. My son (6) is a total Star Wars nut and we are going to WDW in August. Fortunately I suppose, he is super reluctant to jump into new situations and so he tells me he doesn't want to "do" JTA, but I know he wants to watch. So does it matter which one we go to? I am guessing an evening one will be better when the sun isn't beating down and we aren't wasting morning touring time...

Take your pick.

(If you will be at DHS more than one day, he might change his mind about participating after seeing that it's not "too scary" for the other kids.)

Hey, how about looking up some YouTube videos of Jedi Training and see what he thinks?

They run all day long. You can stop and watch whenever you're walking through that area. It is pretty exposed (so, it's sunny and hot). If it fits better to watch later in the day, I don't think it would be much different than the earlier shows (just different party pants, of course).

IMO I think it is possible you might get a Jedi training reservation. This past May I had my 7 year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter both of whom wanted to do Jedi training. We didn't get to HS until almost 11:00AM and pretty much had our pick of times after 3:00PM. Also 1900 Park Fare was very enjoyable with a pretty decent Breakfast. Good luck and have fun.

We have watched the YouTube videos. He likes the show and wants to watch it, but I think it's doubtful he will want to actually go up on stage without one of his older sisters going with him (not sure this is possible - they wouldn't want the light saber). Good idea though! We will see. I think we will only do one rope drop DHS day. We will have park hoppers but that won't help since the JTA gets filled first thing. Might have to hop over to DHS on a night before our morning rope drop and see if we can check it out. Thanks for advice.

I wouldn't wait that late but I think you will be ok if you go after breakfast. Last week when we went we had to be back at 10:15 for our 10:45 JTA and they were already full for the day. Felt bad for the kids that were crying their eyes out when they couldn't get a spot.

If you are interested and have the time/funds there is a Star Wars tour that will allow your child to do JTA. If you book the tour you get this, plus early entrance into Star Wars Dessert Party, and reserved seating for the fireworks.

My kids were hesitant when we got there. So on our first DHS day I made time for us to watch. After that, they wanted to do it. So we did the rope drop sign up on our 2nd DHS day. We got the BEST photos :)

Are you going during a busy season? That will make a huge difference as to whether or not you can sign him up later in the morning. If he is a Disney Junior Fan you can drop your ADR at 1900 and make a Prepark opening ADR at Hollywood and Vine. I've read on these boards that even though your in the park before opening you can go to the Jedi Training Kiosk and sign him up then. Someone else here can help me confirm that that is possible.

If you tnink there is any possibility that your son might see JTA and decide that he wants to try it, you may want to make a reservation, but take him to check out an earlier show, so he can see what it's about and decide whether he'd like to try it. (I speak from experience with my then-5 year old, shy Star Wars loving kiddo who swore he only wanted to watch...until he saw the show.)

I was there on Monday (03/27/17) and watched a little of the one that started at 9:40 am. I got there a few minutes before it started, and overheard someone saying they were all booked for the day.

That's a pretty good idea. I will have to see how it is all going to fit in. I have two older daughters, 14 and 11, and they are going to want to head for RnR and then ToT. So I am not sure how my touring plan is going to go yet. I would just hate to give up that first hour and then have him decide he didn't want to go up on the stage after all, which is totally a possibility. We are only going to have one DHS rope drop, but we will have hoppers and can go in the evening for some of the other rides.
