Sorry to bore you all with this but I always feel better when I have had a bit of a rant on the boards!

Well as many of you know I have been having a "few" problems at work which have really come to a head in the last few days. My main problem was that I couldn't get on with my boss, and I thought that if he left that all would be well. ......well now he has left our department and it looks like we will be getting a new boss in, so that is good, but i think that i have got a bigger underlying problem.

I went to the dentist last monday (having had jaw problems previously) and had to have two fillings donw, the guy wasn't exactly careful and knowing my history with clicky jaw etc I thought he should have been. Anyway.... my jaw has been stuck closed for the last week, I can open it about 0.5 inch!!! I can talk but it is painful to and I can't chew and have survived the past week on milkshakes and tube yoghurts. I went to the doctor and she said that I have Temporomandibular Joint Disfunction (TJD) which is caused by depression and stress. She asked me if everything was ok at work and I just broke down, i explained all about my job and she said that she thought i should try some relaxation techniques and take a month off to get myself together.

I knew that the job was stressful but I didn't realise that it was getting to me so much. SO now I am on the sick for a month and trying to get my act together, it looks like my only option is to leave, although i do like the company that I work for. I am going into the office tomorrow to hand in my notes and maybe speak to the acting boss to see if there is a possibility of changing my job around a bit. I guess if you don't ask you don't get.

DH said that he can't cope with me being down in the dumps any more and has told me just to leave . Easier said than done when there is a mortgage and two holidays to pay for!

I now know that the problems are affecting my health and surely no job is worth that.

I will keep you posted on what happens tomorrow.

As I said sorry to bore you all! That turned into a bit of an essay!

Thanks for listening!

Firstly, don't feel you need to apologise for venting here - if it makes you feel better, do it! ;)

Secondly, hope you feel you're getting things more under control now that you know you need to take some action. Yes, easier said than done, but your health and well-being are ultimately more important than mortgage payments and holidays (even Disney ones  ;) ).

It's never easy to put yourself first when you have others to think of at home but, in the long term, you need to get your health back to be of any use to anyone (and most of all to yourself).

I kinda know how you are feeling.
With all our "stresses" at the moment, (e.g moving home, going on hol, chelsea with her hip etc), I have been suffering with my throat (have mentioned before), I do think mine is a little symbol of the stress factor as I had palpatations last year.

You really need to calm down, and take things easier, easier said than done if I could take a leaf out of this book I wouldnt be in this mess either, Its so hard not to stress over things, you feel like life is treating you unfairly, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel it's just finding it

I hope you are feeling yourself soon, and vent away, I don't mind listening after all, I do it too, and it feels so much better having things out in the open and receiving support, and advice.

Get well soon.

Hi TI6GEM:hug:

Poor you :( As Hilary said your health is more important !!

Let us know how you get on today.

hi..............you sound as if you have really tried your best to stick with this job,at the end of the day life is just so short to spend it stressed out cos of work..........i hope you can find something else that suits you better :D good luck

Well guys.......

Firstly thanks for all the kind words and encourangement, it's really nice having people nearby who understand!

I went into work on Tuesday and saw the Human Resources Manager who had come from our head office in London to see me, he wanted to know exactly what was wrong and how they could help me to sort things out. He stressed that they didn't want me to leave and that I was a valuable assett to my department. I explained how I felt and they have now decided that they are able to cut down my work load and give a lot of the responsibilities to other senior members of the department leaving me to progress gradually and really do the job that I am employed to do.

I feel a lot happier about this now and I hope that what he said happens. We shall see.

Thanks again everyone.

thats great news, sounds like they really value you. hope it works out for you
