Question:Have you heard anything new since your last update about the [DCA World of Color] lagoon show?

Al's Answer: That fancy new Paradise Park won't be peaceful for much longer. Thursday, June 10th has really firmed up in just the last few business days as the official date for the big World of Color celebrity media premiere, with twice-nightly performances thereafter, as we told you in last month's update. Soft openings for the show aren't as definite yet, but they are currently planned to begin in the middle of May, and perhaps only on weeknights at first.

First trip to DL for us in July. I am trying to learn the best way to tour DL and DCA but the unknowns about WOC make it difficult. I hope there is special seating at AG or benefits for WOC if staying at a DL hotel. Being from the East Coast I don't think we will be back to DL anytime soon. I want to be sure to see WOC!!

Yes. Sort of. Soft openings would probably only have one showing per night. And if I had to guess I would expect they will do it later in the evening maybe after DCA has closed. And since the soft openings are not announced then AP holders can't reliably crowd in to see it because they cannot know for sure when or if it will happen. So there will be less of those attendees.

We were at DL on June 6, 2009 for a soft opening of Magical. A few CMs had posted some dates on the internet for the soft openings, but it was still rumor. All APs were blocked this day (we got in because we purchased a DAP that day). Two and a half hours before the fireworks show, the hub was lined with people staking out their spots. We asked a CM if they were showing the fireworks that night, which he confirmed. There was only one loudspeaker announcement about 5 minutes before the show began and it wasn't on the schedule. Still they came. I think once the soft openings start and the projected dates start circulating on the internet, many will come in the hopes of getting to see the show. I hope they have a plan (such as Showpass or some sort of holding area if the show will be after closing) to handle the crowds for these soft openings. I'm guessing they won't have them on grad nights.

Thanks, I wasn't sure exactly what a soft opening would be like. If they did one after closing, the kids would be in bed and I might even be able to check it out.

Me three!!! We are staying at the VGC 6/20 - 6/24 and then another trip to the DLH staying concierge in late July. I am hoping that the rumors that DVC guests and concierge guests will get showpasses is true!!

Interesting on Aeriel's Grotto as I had made a PS for 6:00 ish on May 24, a Monday I think and they called me a week or so ago and said it had to be changed to 4:50 but that the park hours were not changing.
